On such a sparkling day thoughts turn to the summer and the thud of leather on willow. With this in mind i have been following the current test in Sri Lanka and boy did the batsman make a haimes of it, it's almost as depressing as following the R's!!!!

Anyway anyone else following the cricket either via the beeb website or sky?

For what its worth the top 6 batsmen have got some real problems when facing spin, they really do need to get mindset right and not keep relying on the bowlers to also get the majority of the runs aswell as taking the wickets.

SL batting again with a lead of 125.

Funny how we can go from the best Test team in the world to a bunch of hapless twats in a few months. As usual, asking too much of the bowlers.
There is a cricket section of this site - expect a message from Cerny on this thread, he's very purist that this should be QPR only!

We need something to take our minds of the awful predicament we find ourselves in at the moment and unfortunately the cricket isn't really helping.

Don't see we have much choice with local funding being cut the lights would really go out.

Still a badly thought out idea

I know what you mean - the tests against Pakistan annoyed me as much as the football at the time. 14/3 now though.

In principle i don't have a problem with the concept of local taxation afterall we had rates, the poll tax and finally council tax in the UK, but this has been rushed through and there are too many exemptions, it's only hitting property owners, if everyone contributed something then fairs fair afterall everyone uses council services not just property owners!!

Years ago before we moved over here we paid water rates on the house here, then they abolished it and we found out that people who could afford to pay it simply refused and nothing happened to them, the debt was simply written off and i have a feeling that could happen again, hence the dilemma about paying.

    Afternoon CB.

Bowlers are doing the business SL 82-5.

Anyone remember a cricket match played at HQ in the 70's between the R's and Surrey (i think) possibly for a testimonial, wicket was set up in the centre circle, bowlers run up started in the tunnel.

Anyway close of play for today, back tomorrow?

    Up the R's

I remember this. I thought it was Kent though. It was a testimonial for Asif Iqbal IIRC on a dismal, grey Sunday afternoon. Funny what sticks in your mind.

So long ago now. It might have been Kent v Surrey with cameos from some hoops. I remember Iqbal crashing a 6 into the ER stand.
