Much like Celtic fans attacking the wonderful Gordon Strachan on the pitch. And Hugh Dallas. Give it a rest ffs.
ER - Shut it ya auld ****. We're talking about relevant teams who've won something in recent years. Away back to the Trophyless Board with Psycho and Johnny Reptard
Aye we didn't pick Smith for a reason, he was Scotland manager. You're saying what ifs compared to what did actually happen, and I'm fairly happy with how it turned out as are most if not all rangers fans I'm sure.
A thread for Celtic fans to discuss Neil Lennon is highjacked in a fit of whataboutery. As for WGS, I always supported him, as I recall plenty did on the old BBC606 forum but in his last season fans were starting to lose patience with him and his signings and tactics, but he was well liked by the vast majority and I personally never wanted him to leave at any time. FACT
You're one of the few then Dev. Most Celtic fans despised him as they recalled the Red Mist descending. Same with McLeish at Rangers.
I think Lennon has the makings of a very good manager and we have still to see the best of him . The improvement since he took over from Mowbray has been huge . He speaks well on TV and radio and most media men say he is a pleasure to work with as he always gives a straight answer to a straight question . I think he can certainly be too hotheaded at times and the suggestion by another caller that he takes 20 mins or so to calm down after a game before giving interviews is a good one . I feel he could do with professional advice on dealing with press and match officials in the heat of a game or it's immediate aftermath. I love the fact he is so passionate though and would not like to see that knocked out of him . The fact that the Rangers fans hate him so much ( at least in part or more likely mainly because he is an outspoken Catholic from The north of Ireland ) is a bonus in some ways as every success we have with Lennon as manager will be so much harder to take by them . Before any talk of a new manager it should be remembered any new manager would be a big gamble as we would not be in the market for someone with a proven track record at a high level . Remember Mowbray , Barnes etc . I sincerely hope Lenny stays for at least another couple of seasons and if things are going well he could even become one of our longest serving managers. He was under enormous pressure last season for all the wrong reasons but there is also a trial going on currently for his attempted murder . How many other managers have anything remotely similar to contend with. I have a relative who was a colleague of the late Paul McBride and apparently he was finding the trial ( in which both he and Lennon are witnesses ) very stressful and I would expect it would be the same for Lennon.
IF Lennon was to go, who would take the job!? There's a reason the current managers are 2 ex players who hold huge status with the fans.
WGS gave me some of my favourite memories of Celtic. JVoH's 93rd minute winner in 2008 against Rangers. Beating Man Utd in the CL and 2 last 16 qualifications. But the football got gradually less attractive - his last season was mainly awful to watch, slow ponderous buildup with only McGeady able to raise the tempo. My recollection of him leaving was almost universal gratitude amongst the fans for his record (which was undeniably outstanding) but a widespread hope that the next manager would bring in a more exciting style.
Pretty sure not long ago you were slagging off Timmy for going on Rangers forums, given how 'sad' it was, yet here you are yourself frequenting multiple Celtic ones
