More succesful during his time at Rangers than McCoist More experienced in Europe than McCoist Better fitness regime than McCoist Tried to change the player's shocking dietary and exercise regimes. I could easily suggest that you lot got rid of PLG because he wasn't "minded". You'll stick with Tubbs cos he's an ex-player and celebrated mouthpiece. You turned on the better manager.
Whoa there cowbhoy. I never said he was forced out. I was just commenting from memory that a lot of the support turned against him.
Explain how? Did the fans take banners saying "Strachan Out" to the games? Maybe they protested outside the stadium? We Deserve better maybe? Please do give us and the likes of squiggy (he hasn't been able to) an example or two of how we "turned on Strachan".
Did we turn on the better manager? and even if we did I seem to remember us winning the last 3 titles under the manager who took over from his position. So no there is no similarity at all, why can't yous just admit yous all hated him and have it done with. You'd think you have some sort of pride saying it. Venom bite my ****e.
Some fair points. He was brought in to deliver the euro success that Smith failed to deliver, but his tenure quickly became a mess. He lost the dressing room and had to go.
fuxake I was only commenting on my memory from the time of what Celtic fans were sayin on forum and in the boozer. I canny mind if there were any banners or protests. They would have to have been at OF games for me to have even seen them let alone remember them.
I'm not gonna suggest he was hated cos he was Rangers first bead-rattling manager - that's as stupid as suggesting people "turned on Strachan cos he wasn't minded". What brought LeGuen down wasn't results (his results were better than Sally's), it was the Rangers boot room ethic that brought him down - remember Barry Backpass kissing his armband LeGuen would've been a better manager given time, Rangers at the time expected instant success and spent too much to acheive it - in a captain vs manager fallout, the fans sided with the captain. Now this isn't down to sectarianism but it was because Rangers fans viewed Ferguson as "one of oor ain". Ferguson acted like a dick during that whole period and LeGuen got the bullet indirectly because of it.
There weren't any. There's a HUGE difference between some people expressing their opinion about Strachan on an internet forum and the Celtic fans "turning on Strachan" as Squiggy told us a number of comments ago. But then, as we've seen regarding Neil Lennon, the Rangers fans are prone to exaggeration when it comes to Celtic managers so I'll just put it down to Squiggy spending too much time on Follow Follow with the likes of Leggo, Girvan and Ben Hero
Bib how much better could he have been than a manager that took us the final step to the UEFA cup final, 3 league titles and worked with no contract. Do you honestly believe he would've done better? Or even worked without a contract?
In summary, Squiggy is unable to back up his argument so resorts to chucking out insults and googled images.
Pretty much what I said. He was brought in to provide euro success using his ideas. He lost the dressing room. Once that happens he's got to go. Should he have been given more time? No. Once the dressing room was lost it was over.
Squiggy goes into MD mode to save face shocker! Next I'll be beelin' - the calling card of a hun with nothing left to say.
So he didn't spend money you didn't have? LeGuen may well have done just as well - he would've certainly brought a more modern outlook to the club and team. ...and I doubt LeGuen would've left you with a handful of squad players all aged over 30 with no sell-on value. Smith brought Rangers success - but you lot didn't pick Smith over him. You chased him out by picking Barry Ferguson over him.
