Certainly not! I'm open-minded and forward-thinking which is why I abhor his regressive and superstitious outlook on life and on sport. You wouldn't catch our thoroughly modern manager fraternising with the likes of Eileen Drury that's for certain!
A couple of points: We should have taken Hoddle back as he would have kept us up Errm On the off chance he did, then he would have jumped and we would have been relegated the following season after still appointing Stuart Grey. Remember people saying Redknapp was sure to save us and.......he didn't. Also he hated Le Tissier for turning him down as Chelsea Manager, showed that by making him play as centre forward for England when he knew he was not a forward. It gave him the chance though to let the punters lay down their demands for him to play by showing Le Tissier 'wasn't up to the task'. His tactics including using wing backs were maybe ahead of their time Errrm.And now they are out of date. Yes he used wingbacks but the top managers have moved on from there. It is all about moving from attack to defence to attack with one fluid movement these days. Total Football where attackers fill in midfield spaces when a midfielder gets left upfield, where midfielders fill in defence positions etc. Hoddle stuck to a rigid formation even up to his last job at Wolves so yes he was ahead of his time but he didn't take it forward and move with the times and became dated. England? No thanks. Still Hodgson for me.
I don't understand why anyone would want Woy Hodgson as England manager. What has he ever won and what does he have on his CV other then managing a few scandinavian countries. There is only 3 men i would happily take. Jose, Pep and Wenger and the FA should go all out to make it one of those men.
People keep saying Roy has international experience but he hasn't won anything has he? If I had to choose Twitchy or Hoddle I would go with Hoddle, I just cant help think Twitchy would be like Mike Bassett
What has Adkins won? would he be a good England manager? What has Hodgson done? He took Switzerland to Euro 96 at the expense of teams that were much much better on paper. He managed Norway to finals. He was manager of Inter Milan twice!!! and not when they were in a good period. He hasn't had a good job ever. The only chance he has had at an English glory club cam at a very weak Liverpool that relied on Gerard heavily and then Gerrard got injured!!! Look what he did at Fulham. Now he's taking West Brom into safety with games to spare!!! He is very good at geting very unfancied teams to do well and.................England are an ideal candidate for 'unfancied' no matter what the bookies say Jose.Nope England would be even more defensive plus we want an England manager to manage England. Pep - would be much better fotball style and he would do a good job but he isn't English. Wenger? If he could build a defence he would be a good candidtae. his succese came with an established back four already in place when he arrived.......plus he isn't English. Hodgson has international experience, he has taken unfancied teams to finals when they were not expected to get close to qualifying. He has taken Fulham to a UEFA final. Would you have predicted that? West Brom in europe season after next if Redknapp gets the job? I wouldn't bet against it You should be asking 'what has Redknapp won, what has Redknapp done? Spent kaboodles of money bankrupting clubs, stumbling upon Bale being a top player in midfield by accident when he had only played him due to injuries and the 'magnificent' Essou Ekotto keeping Bale out at left back prior. Took Pompey to a cup final after giving every average player ridiculous wages. Taken Tottenham (a very rich club at the moment) into the champions league at a time when Chelsea were ageing, Arsenal were in transition and Man City just beginning to build. If Chelsea had a good manager since Mourinho they would've replaced half that squad and not bought some of the garbage they have and if Wenger could build a defence then Tottenham would not be in the top 4 nor have been 2 years ago!!!
