Now, their has been a lot of discussion from fans of Liverpool FC about Kenny Dalglish and all different aspects of our club.

Let's go back to around December 2010. Roy Hodgson managing us as we languish around the relegation zone, H&G the owners as we're on the edge of administration. Terrible football, bad results and demoralizing press conferences. and that's just some of the bad points in Roy Hodgsons reign as Liverpool manager.

Finally H&G are forced to sell the club, and in come promising new owners who want to help Liverpool be a force again. A 3-1 loss to Blackburn was the final nail in the coffin for Hodgson, who before a F.A. cup tie with Manchester United was sacked.

It was the end of a bleak Chapter in our history. But as we all know, it's was the start of a very promising one, one that is still in progress now.

New manager, new owners, new players, and new style of football.

That was only 16 months ago, which isn't a very long time in football. Their are still a lot of down times and frustrating times, but that is football, you can't have it good all the time.

This season could of been a lot better, but it hasn't been. But didn't it feel good going to the new Wembley and seeing our team lift our first silverware in 6 years? I'm not saying that can deem this as a successful season, because it can't. But what our cup runs and our style of football and our disappointment of where we are have shown is progress.

Progress is what we have needed. The last 2 seasons have seen us go backwards, from a top European club to a team struggling to get in to the top four. But since Kenny has come back in we have moved forward. Now a lot of rival fans are going to slate me for saying we've moved forward, probably with something a long the lines of "You're still seventh". League standings aren't a clear indication of how much a club has progressed. We have one the Carling Cup, although not the most prestigious of Cups it is still silverware, we're also going back to Wembley to play in a F.A. cup semi-final (we haven't progressed this far since 06 when we won it.).

Our league form since the turn of the year has been very bad, but why does that mean we should ignore the form before it? The story of our league form has been that we've not been ruthless enough, not that we're playing bad, or getting thrashed by teams. It's been our own downfall.

It took Manchester City 4 seasons to get in to the top four with all the money they had, nothing in football happens over night, it's a steady progress but you have to keep moving forward in that progress.

Kenny has made some mistakes in both the transfer market and the league. But he's a very experienced man and we can't forget that, and I trust him to learn from his mistakes and to keep moving us forward as a club. People often say "If this was Roy or Rafa would we be keeping faith" This is not Roy or Rafa so it's irrelevant, he's a completely different person and manager so we will have different opinions on whether he can take us forward or not.

I realize I'm not the best of writers and I apologize for that, I just feel we need to show more patience and not demand success when it's progress we need at this stage in our transition.

I agree with what you have said. The WHOLE club is in the early stages of a long term re-development. Forget the WUMs, they are not interested in looking at the positives and there have been many.

I accept that we have not made the most of our opportunities and that some players have not played to the level that we would have hoped for. However, I truly expect they will be far better for us next season. As the OP says we cannot expect that everything will go our way - that's football. However we should delight in the football that we have played.

Agreed, a lot of the opportunities we haven't made the most of have brutally cost us. But it's definitely something that can be rectified next season. It's all a learning curve.

**** me is this a positive happy thread?? <laugh> thank **** for that.

I agree there are still many reasons to be positive. There isn't a single one of us who isn't disappointed when we lose whoever its too and obviously losing to Wigan and QPR is bloody hard to take...but take it we must.

Give Kenny time and we will get better and better...expect it overnight and you'll be disappointed. There'll be more **** and bad results in the future but there isn't a doubt that in this instance patience will be rewarded <ok>

Agreed <ok> but I have to just ask one thing:

A learning curb? <whistle> I've slept on a few "forgetting" curbs after 12 pints...I never realised some of them were for learning stuff <laugh>

Curbey should be an olympic sport <laugh>

I just think if any man deserves our respect and undevoted support it's Kenny. Is there any Red who wouldn't love it if it was Kenny who got us back on our perch <ok> So while we've got him let's get behind him. I for one would lick his dogs arse if he asked me too (metaphorically speaking of course <whistle>) so I'll happily follow him to either the lands of glory and big silver cups or I'll follow him to oblivion <ale> either way I'll still always love the fella.

I know they mean nothing but platitudes but still nice to read:

"I will never have a bad word said about Kenny because as a person he is fantastic. As a manager I think he was fantastic as well. He did not have the best of times at Newcastle but he won trophies at Liverpool as a manager and as a player. He won the title at Blackburn as a manager. Some of his signings did not work out for him at Newcastle but I tell you, if you ask any player who was at Newcastle when Kenny was manager, they will not have a bad word said against him because for a player he was fantastic, he treated you as a man. He treated you how you wanted to be treated. He was great for us as players, certainly here at Newcastle and definitely at Blackburn." Alan Shearer.

"Kenny had unbelievable vision and strength as a player. He was really aware of people around him. He had great balance and was a good finisher, courageous too. People often forget that the one quality great players need is courage. Kenny is as brave as a lion. He would take a kick from anyone and come back for more. Kenny is a man I shall always respect."
    Alex Ferguson.

Well, he's got a few kicks this year but if Fergies right( and isn't Fergie always right ;)) he'll come back for some more!

Mate I'd lick it as it was taking a dump if KK asked <laugh> still speaking metaphorically obviously <ok>

And for those who say supporting him is blind faith..so what? If we can't have blind faith in our footballing heroes why the hell would we bother being a supporter anyway? Its all part and parcel surely...unless its only about the glory...

Suns out mate, got another trip to wemberleee coming up (maybe even a third come the end of May), we're playing really well in general despite results, league position is ****e as we all know but reasons to think it can be improved upon next season if we keep playing this style of footy and get some goals added to the squad. A solid base to build on if nothing else <ok>
