Glenn Hoddle has suggested he would be interested in leading the country again at this summer's European Championships. He did a good job at Chelsea and for us but I'm not sure I would have him back managing England. Views?
A great manager when managing good players. Tactically aware, probably a few years before his time with his deployment of wing backs etc...
anyone would be better than pearce, but having said that- i would prefer pearce to some of the muppets we have had in the last 6 years
Let his life remain incomplete. he walked out on us, and showed a complete lack of empathy with his crackpot quasi religious views.
his so called crackpot religous views were along the Buhdist line so dont think we should call them crackpots ,ought to be more careful of religous comments as i daresay you know nothing of other religions ,As for him leaving us ,he left us in a very healthy spot challenging for europe was not his fault Lowe appointed Stuart Grey with no experience and won only 1 of the last 13 games ,He was always going to except the Spurs job and anybody who thought he should have stayed were very naive ,Thought the fans were stupid not wanting him back as im pretty sure we would never have been relegated,,Good shout for England in my view
I wouldn't support him in that role mainly because he was the man who killed my interest in the England team back when he decided that Rob Lee and David Batty were more likely to allow England to win the World Cup than Le Tissier or Gascoigne.
Hoddle has baggage therefore there is no chance that the FA would go near him. Aside from Redknapp the only really sensible choice which meets the FAs crazed specifications is Roy Hodgson, who has good international managerial experience... shock, picking someone with international managerial experience...
Saintupnorth, I may not be an expert in religious faiths, but know enough to state with certainty that the Buddhist faith does not believe that people with disabilities are being punished for failings in a previous existence!!!!!
I'd back Hoddle for England, as I like a laugh and both the england national side and Hoddle himself have lost so much credibility they are now well matched. As a person, Hoddle is pretty worthless.
No, it was probably the only good decision the board under Lowe's thumb made. I would have rather have gone through the pain of relegation and administration than face having "Smug & Smugger" delivering lower mid table finishes for Saints in the Prem.
I'm sure Hoddle would have kept us up...which brings us back to the other thread about relegation turning out okay for us in the end. Lot of pain in between though.
He's got to be joking hasn't he? He can keep his faith healers and rosary beads. That kind of management, and his bigoted views, have no place in the 21st century.
think im right in saying hoddle has the best win ratio for an english manager so leaving his private beliefs out of the equasion he should never have been sacked in the first place,so think he should have another chance ,Also was interested to read in another thread regarding Adkins how people have said they would totally understand Adkins going to Liverpool if offered yet when Hoddle went to Spurs they crucified him talk about hypocrasy,,
The guy hasn't managed since an unsuccessful stint at Wolves six years ago, I'm sure he's seen his odds for the job, but in reality his candidature is just his own wishful thinking.
Or the FA instead of being a bunch of arrogant upstarts could have given Capello (the man with the highest England manager win ratio) until after the summer and we would not have this worry.
