After making the silly and costly mistake of not bringing in a proven goal scorer in January we may as well try the fringe players from now until the end of the season. We've blown our chances of making the top 6 now with too many games ending in losses or draws due to out inability to put the ball in the net. From here on out I think Barmby should start the likes of Cullen, Cairney, Simpson et al in every game to give them the stage to show us what they can do. If they don't perform ship them out in the summer but at this rate we're going nowhere anyway so why not give them a go? We had a brilliant opportunity to push for promotion this term but not bringing in a striker was just stupid. It's all well saying 'there's always next season' but we will be starting from scratch with the possibility of the vultures circling around our back four. Now is the time to test the squad, we already know Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs, Fryatt, Mckenna and Evans (arguably) are good enough to play in a promotion-challenging side. But the fringe players need to be tested, a mon avis!
What are you saying then? We should persist with the current team, still fail to make the play offs and not know the potential of our squad? Get real.
**** that there's still everything to play for you numpty! 2 points away with 8 games to go, including 6 against bottom half teams it's far from blown! Although on recent form it is actually a bit more grim than it sounds. And are Koren and Stewart not promotion worthy players?
I think we are petty sure on basically everyone...... Why play a team that are not going to play every again together after this year what difference does that make? Rotating your whole team will show nothing as they will not be used to playing together and will be poor. Maybe giving Cullen the ood game once its mathematically gone maybe, but not change a whole eleven men.
I take it you didn't go to Leicester, if you did and had seen the previous few games you'd know this team have nothing going forward apart from Fryatt (when he can be bothered). Koren yes, Stewart definitely not. He's been abysmal since January and showed no signs of improvement.
When the play-offs are out of reach then it's time to play the fringe players- sorry about the Mr Blobby gag couldn't help myself Noel
SO how does changing the team make a difference? Yes Stewart has nothing going forward, did you go to Leicester? Thought he looked far more interested, pre-season in him and i think we will see him back to his best. Yes abysmal...... yes two points of the play offs, thats really abysmal.
WTF - Cairney has been playing of late, Simpson (who is hardly a kid) can't be arsed and Cullen is sh*te.. If this is a wind up its a p*ss poor effort..
For one yes I was at Leicester im from there and two I haven't missed a league game since january and that was the only one in 2012. Stewart is a brilliant talent but is off form at the moment, sadly at the same time most the rest of our team seem to be. This team is more than good enough for the play offs were just in a really bad patch, scared to lose possession which is stopping us make that killer ball more often. Playing the kids now is just a ****ing stupid idea what's that going to get us? It'd be just like trying to pull a fit girl all night, getting her home when your wasted and having to do a bit of pre shag work to get a boner, not being arsed and sending your mate in instead.
Nick - No problem it was a good effort! Bob - Sticking with the current side would be like trying for a girl who you're not going to get, because you know you're not good enough. Granted she might be really drunk and there is an outside chance of pouncing at the end. However, why not be realistic, admit our flaws and try something different. Like the fat girl dancing on her own, guaranteed lay cos she's desperate for the attention. We can sharpen ourselves up over the summer, new haircut and threads, perhaps shed some excess baggage (Cullen) and next season have a crack at the one with the phenomenal rack. I digress... I know the table is close but we've blown our chance to cement our top 6 position on too many occasions. I hope I'm proven wrong and we fire 5 past pompey tomorrow but I don't see it.
And you think we have more chance of pouncing in there by playing the kids? That quite often go and lose against Hartlepool reserves and the likes? Our team is potent, it's bad form it happens sometime, but it doesn't last forever. Dropping half the squad will just cause problems in the camp. Eeyore.
Not at all, I'm being realistic and saying due to our lack of business in January, this team won't get us promoted anyway. With a Windass/ Campbell like combination we'd be in the top 2 but unfortunately we don't have a striker fit to lace their boots. I'm saying give the bench warmers ago, once they prove they're league 2 standard ship them out in the summer. I'd be willing to wager my right testicle that we won't be in the top 6 this season. Because we couldn't score in a brothel.
This season is destined to be a dead duck, so why not give a few of the reserves a chance? Once again I'm going to mention Danny Emerton...
im sorry but does anyone have that combination in this league this season? Theres a front runner for every club yes: Lambert, K.Phillips only 2 players in the promotion battle with over 15 goals. Fryatt has 11, and Koren has 10. I agree, theres not been enough goals but I dont agree that we dont have the right players, they are just young and developing. One or Two more big named players would finish this team to perfection, some one like Jason Roberts who Reading signed. Its all still to play for... we will finish in the play offs im telling you now.
