    Williamson vs Suarez :'(
    Williamson vs Carroll :'(
    Perch vs Carroll :'(

Seriously though, if Colo was fit for the game I'd be very confident of a win, but right now I'm worried.

I'm worried that we could play really well attacking wise but a few moments of Suarez vs Willo and bam... we lose. Also I noticed as soon as Coloccini went off we couldn't communicate at the back.

Also we will miss Colo's quick reaction/reflexes and clever touches, which we really could have used vs the likes of Suarez and Bellamy, players with pace, agility and some skill.

Will Pardew consider playing Shola now that we lack a captain figure in the team? No offence to Jonas but he can't do the captains job.

He's far too busy to be pulling the team together, considering he's the hardest working player in the team most days.

    It's a difficult decision. I'd personally play this -

    Ba------Cisse-------HBA

    --------Cabaye---------

    --Jonas--------Guthrie---

    Santon--Perch--Willo--Simpson

    -----------Krul---------------

This is a match where we'll just need to go all out and attack really.

Looking at that defence, it's not very strong. Perch and Willo is a very poor CB pairing, Santon needs work. Simpson is good but not great.

It's basically not much better than a top table championship defence.

We just need to go all out and try and put Liverpool to bed, but what worries me is that Liverpool can unsettle us in every way.

They have technical skill on the ground, and good height and threat from set plays.

This could be a cracking game or just a complete nightmare.

It;s going to be interesting to see how Pardew plans for this game. It will probably be a full house and it's live on TV. I hope we don't get stuffed.

The fans will play a big part in this. We need to get behind Perch and Willo.

I have a bad feeling about the weekend. Our defence is shocking without Saylor or Colo and Liverpools main problem this season has been scoring, the rest of their game has been pretty good.

I can't see either team keeping a clean sheet. Could be a cracker.

Well their away form has kept them in the top 10, but yeah I agree their scoring record has let them down.

I would take a draw right now really, and probably take a draw vs Stoke.

Against Stoke I could see us dominating possession but losing to a few cheap set plays.

Then Bolton, I think we can win without Colo though

I dunno, it's going to be a very interesting end to the season.

We're 8 pts clear of Liverpool, if we had Colo we could clear go 11pts clear, but fate decided one of our most important players should be injured to make the end of the season more interesting.

I just hope our injuries don't let Liverpool catch us up.

    Hey Tash, Welcome back!
This is one game I'm really nervous about, I did think Tiote was going to be available for this game, and I'd be more worried if he isn't.
Willo is definitely the weak link at the moment, but Perch has really stepped up to the plate, I have no problem with Santon, even though I'd really like to see him play his 'natural' role at RB, whoever is captain, (probably Jonas) their role could be vital on Saturday.

The thing about Santon, his ability on the ball is excellent and potentially world class, his tackling is good, but the tactical/positional sense of his game really needs work. He's not used to this league and it shows. I think he could really get murdered by diagonal balls and Liverpools wingers.

I really can't call this game.

Have faith. We din't need to worry about defending if we are on the attack!
    In Hatem we trust.

Yeh but as I said, I've got the feeling that we could experience what we did last season numerous times. Play well, dominate large portions of the game, but weaknesses in defence end up in us losing the game or conceding cheap goals.

I don't think anybody could defend Willo for his performance yesterday, I only hope he's had a wake up call and we can see an improvement from him against Liverpool. Perch on the other hand has as you say, stepped up to the plate and put an impressive performance in yesterday. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The difference is though.. This time the dippers confidence is shot, plus they are concentrating on the cup. Its a well known fact that a pro footballer will, if theres a sniff of a cup final place, go easy on the tackling....

I expect Tiote to boss things big time.

The thing is, it's not the first mistake he's made.

He's making it a habbit. ****ing up on the ball vs Norwich on the ball and it almost let in a goal, he gets outmuscled far too easy for a bloke his size. He gets beaten in the air, and outmuscled by people 6 inches smaller than him.

Willos confidence is shot, he's lost the plot.
He needs that once in a lifetime memorable football moment of magic, a Crouch like goal (I'm kidding) but he needs a confidence boost, it will need to be earned to get the crowd behind him not on his back.
Perch has clearly done it, so Williamson must do it also.

The thing is, Willo has shown that he can be good for a set of games as cover. When he first starts playing, he's good and quite solid, but over a long stretch of game, he starts playing **** and loses confidence after his first flop.

He's a very good covering CB, but just not a player you can rely on for a long stretch of games.

He isn't doing a lot of the things that should just come natural to him, he seems to need a lot of time to think what he should do when he should really be acting instinctively.

I think he;s very much a confidence player. He looks like a decent, solid CB when he first starts a run of games, then after a while starts ****ing up them a chain reaction of **** starts.

I often wonder how our season would have progressed had Steven Taylor not been injured, we probably had the best defence in the league before his injury, Should I add
IMO, so as not to offend, but to be honest, Stephen Taylor is very injury prone, often long term, guess it comes with the territory being a defender.

It's frustrating to think about it, lass. We've been without Steven Taylor, lost a lot of points from weakness in defence, yet we're still joint points with Chelsea and only 5 from the CL places.

Especially the 100% whole hearted defender that Stevie is.
