If I was the owner of Liverpool F.C I would seriously have Mr Adkins on my radar for next season. He has done such a fantastic job for Southampton taking us from League One to the summit of the Championship and possibly the Premier League next season. He is a scouser and supports the team as does a certain Rickie Lambert who would also follow Adkins in at Liverpool. Liverpool under Dagleish have been nothing but awful and for the amount of money that was made available to him even winning the 2 cup competitions is not enough. They have their worst home record since the 60's under him and his buys have been a awful waste of money. I want Adkins to stay as our manager for years to come but just imagine if Liverpool dangled that carrot to Nigel and Rickie what do you think they would do? I think Adkins would bring back the glory days to Liverpool much as he has done for us after years of heartbreak and upheaval.
I'd obviously hate to see him go, but it would be the dream job for him, no question. However, dream management jobs are rarely successful as we've seen in the past.
Alex. Ssshhhhhh! Get back under the Radar! You never know who might be reading! Anyone asks, remember. It's "Nigel Who?"
Haha! sorry Channon! It just dawned on me that if I had the power and money and controlled Liverpool he would be exactly the sort of person they should be looking at! I have no doubt in my mind though they will continue to stick with Dagleish next season and finish up midtable again just below us!
What are you on about? Adkins is an awful manager he should still be a physio! Liverpool wouldn't go near him with a bargepole! He is about as much use as Jim Magilton! In all seriousness tho hope he stays with us for years to come he is the perfect man to work with the Don
Although Nigel is amazing and a great manager i just can't see a top club coming in for him, these days clubs like Liverpool want a big name to appease the fans.I would be surprised if they came in for him and more surprised if they came in for Lambert! The thing that is on our side is the fact that he is 30 and not too many would take a gamble on a footballer of his age.Being slefish i'm very happy to think like that but if either had the option of going to Liverpool i couldn't really blame them if they went as it's the club they love, thankfully i just can't see it happening
Although it be a tragedy for us, I would genuinely be very happy for rickie and Nigel, can't see it happening for a while yet tho, they have to prove themselves in prem
The fact that recently Harry Redknapp mentioned Adkins as a possible future England manager proves that he is already on the radar. I don't think he would go before seeing where he could get the Saints to finish in the prem (if we go up)
I think Adkins will be pretty switched on and recognise he's probably not quite ready for the Liverpool job yet. He's got a project here, great backing, all the infrastructure to succeed and I think he'd want to cement his legacy here before taking another job, even if it was his beloved Liverpool.
Perhaps that is a decent question to ask on the Liverpool site......There was quite a few booing at the end of the Wigan game. Not been on there to see what the fans are saying about Dalgish...but something ain't quite right in that dressing room, me thinks.........
If NA got the job, the first thing to go would be Carrolls pony tail, the second thing would be Carroll!
Here we go again... Right from the first sentence I knew what I was in for. After three short paragraphs I'd had enough. Why do people persist in trying to find weaknesses that will compromise the rise of this club..? Can't you just allow yourselves to enjoy what is happening without trying to find potential problems in the future..? If you were the chairman of the club, with the ability to do anything about this, I might read on. How about this scenario then..? Nigel doesn't do as well in the PL as Nicola demands and he ends up sacking him. Then he could go to Liverpool. I'm sorry, but I do get a little bit peeved with people who see problems that aren't there. Especially when we should be enjoying the moment. Remember..? Living in the now..?
I can only comment on things as I see them. Here Saints sit, with 7 games to go, in the Championship, odds on to be promoted, probably as Champions, and the subject comes up that Nigel might be tempted to go to Liverpool if they sack Kenny Dalgleish and if they look in his direction. Well they aren't gong to sack Kenny Dalgleish - Liverpool don't do that to one of their own, so to speak, and they aren't going to swing towards Nigel even if they did. Normally, they promote from within, or nowadays, get a foreign manager in. They've done the English manager bit with Roy Hodgson, and they didn't like that. Do remember, they traditionally go for Scots. Now there's the conventional answer you were seeking, perhaps. Why am I seeing this as a problem, though..? Because it's all ifs, buts and maybes, and means nothing to the here and now. Don't go looking for troubles that aren't there - celebrate the moment that is coming, and leave the ifs, buts and maybes to the Chairman, or someone else, he has designated, who can actually do something about them if they ever happen.
I Don't think the author was raising the possiblity of someone coming in for NA. More a discussion as to whether the owners of Liverpool possibly having to get rid of Kenny, having the likes of NA in their sights. That it is how I read it.....
Even though Adkins is a great manager in my eyes I can't even see Liverpool considering him for the job,he just isn't that well known, the liverpool board won't even consider him.
