If I was the owner of Liverpool F.C I would seriously have Mr Adkins on my radar for next season. He has done such a fantastic job for Southampton taking us from League One to the summit of the Championship and possibly the Premier League next season. He is a scouser and supports the team as does a certain Rickie Lambert who would also follow Adkins in at Liverpool. Liverpool under Dagleish have been nothing but awful and for the amount of money that was made available to him even winning the 2 cup competitions is not enough. They have their worst home record since the 60's under him and his buys have been a awful waste of money. I want Adkins to stay as our manager for years to come but just imagine if Liverpool dangled that carrot to Nigel and Rickie what do you think they would do? I think Adkins would bring back the glory days to Liverpool much as he has done for us after years of heartbreak and upheaval.
Didnt think I would get a sensible response on this board! I will let you get back to perming your hair.
I'll give a senible answer. I admit I do not know much about this guy, but from what your saying I do understanding your point and it doesnt make some sense. But I feel it would be to risky. I believe he has no managing experience from the Premier League, and the Premier League is a very different game from the football leagues. Look at Ian Holloway at Blackpool. He has done great for them, getting them promotions, and getting them to the Premier League. He started great in the Premier League but failed to keep the balance over the course of the season and was relegated. Ian Holloway is actually some one I have thought of as a manager with great potential, but I feel it would be very risky. You also have to consider the players views. He would have to do very well to earn there respect as they probably dont know about him yet. Also, will new signings, especially foreign ones think 'yeah, thats a manager I'd like to work with', or will they think 'who'. I would be a very bold move. The younger managers I admire are Coyle, Hollway and Lambert (Norwich).
