Ipswich fans on their forum seem to be following the trend of knocking our style...when we beat them. Very bitter indeed.
If we continue to play like yesterday we may as well start with big Chris as we have an air of the Boothroyd's about us at the moment. As for the Ipswich supporters moaning about "physical direct" Watford, oh boo hoo! Maybe you'll play the football and not lose to us next season.
Dyche made the comment that "Ipswich played the pitch" in the first half--, but that Watford did the same and did it better in the second half. He said that some other visiting teams have taken this approach too. He seems to mean that our current pitch is not suitable for playing passing football on-- he no longer expects us to try this, and visiting teams have come to the same conclusion. He seemed to say he hopes to play better football next season, when we have a new pitch. He cited the performance against Spurs as the style of play he aspires to. So far this season it is hard to characterise a "Dyche style" of play --perhaps we have not seen it yet.
I accept we did use Big Chris well yesterday and don't play as well style wise at home as maybe on the road. Would be interesting to see what happens next season - Dychey might be putting a bit of pressure on himself suggesting its mainly down to the pitch albeit not as much as Mackay did and we had better players then you could argue! Afterall the back 4 we had yesterday are not the most graceful on the ball...look what happened when Dickinson was trying to flap around when all it needed was a simple wack away! At least there is some end product to the "hoofing" now and we seem to generally improve after half time which suggests Dyche has a good team-talk on him if things aren't going right and not scared to make changes. TBH The most important thing in terms of the club's future was to stay up...relegation would have meant less revenue leading to even less chance of a new pitch/stand coming in.
6 points over you, and you're talking rubbish. Gone even further on the Ipswich board too....."poor team"? Ipswich are not a better team than us and end of the day you can have more shots, but your only goal came from a howler. You had more chances to score, but so did we. It was never a one sided affair, if people want to say "oh we should've been X up....".....then we should've been 1-0 up in the first few minutes. Our pitch is not good, and playing good football is not easy. After the gift of a goal, Ipswich did play a bit better football. But football is a 90 minute game, and Ipswich were not playing that good football anyway....pretty average and when we started to play better in the second half you collapsed to our pressure. We did not score from hoofs....we actually played pretty good, varied football. Long balls might be a part of that...but so what? It's not our only tactic, where as Ipswich quite quickly ran out of tactics. Wing play is a big part of our attack....having a big striker upfront doesn't change that. JET was a good player to be fair...but one player doesn't win you a game. Thanks for the 6 points....couldn't hear Ipswich fans second half, you got put in your place and we won the game deservedly.
How many teams have been beaten by us and complained like hell about our style(or lack of it) the pitch how unfortunate they have been, if only that had gone in etc etc! Get over it both teams have to play on the pitch, yes I would love a football only pitch but until the egg chasers leave we have to get on with it! We have beaten teams fair and square and rarely get the credit we deserve, christ we got credit when we got beat by Spurs and we played them off the pitch and did everything but score that day All I can say you Tractor Boys is thank you for the 6 points and can you please make more of a game of it next season
Rugby? The guy that scored our equaliser was 5 foot 8, and dripping wet he's probably 10 and a half stone.
Thats ok Yorkie, however the number of time you used it i should have charged 50p each time!! Well you were half right. I got to speak with Sean Dyche after the match and he said that he now thinks people know what Chris . He changed the whole complexion of the game! When it was TD and JG Deeney had to play target man which he does not get to break away and use his pace. When Iwelumo comes on he becomes the target man and wins 90% of headers and has to be marked by 2 players which creates plenty of space for others to move and run into. I have a sneaking suspicion it was not a foul. I think the keeper made the most of it. He made a mistake and just lay on the floor to win the foul. Also i question why he then took a goal kick rather than a free kick from the middle of the 6-yard box. Nah!! That was never a foul lol. It makes a change to see the opo cock up a back pass!! I have said it all season!!! I have said i would drop JE in place of Prince and make Mapps captain. We seem to do particularly well with that line up.
Apparently, the substitution of Hogg for Buaben was because Hogg had blurred vision after a knock. Hopefully Dyche will realise that worked, but more importantly, the second substitution changed the game completely. Well done Dychey!
I LOVE SEAN DYCHE!!!! He has given us the passion and the heart we lacked for so long before. We now scrap and battle for every ball and dont allow the other team to settle on the ball. We also seem to relax and play how we know we can play rather than worrying about anything. Sean's goal was well taken again, such a calm head on those young shoulders!! He is developing into a wonderful player!! He is a shoe-in for young player of the year!! I think i will nominate Deeney for player of the year. He always puts in a fantastic shift in and looks like a new player now he is allowed to play as a striker! Here are a few pics of the Ipswich autographs i managed to get after the match. I will add the Watford ones to an album too. We have Paul Jewell who seemed a bit reluctant to sign, but he was kind enough to. Then we have Arran Lee-Barrat, Sonko, Cresswell, Edwards, Bowyer, Martin, Emmanuel-Thomas, Murphy and Unknown.
In fairness, if he was presented with a glossy magazine featuring his face, he probably wanted to check the content of the article he was signing. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/mar/25/newsoftheworld.pressandpublishing
I think i would be a bit cautious too lol. It might also be the fact that his side let a lead slip after dominating the first half. OOPS!
For the winning home team that makes sense. But to get autographs from a defeated away team takes something.
