It hard not to look back at the season now and think of the stupid points dropped. 1 point out of 6 against coventry!
Theres been a hell of alot of stupid points dropped but then you look at other games where you think how the hell did we get a win there or a draw. It works both ways and has done over the course of the season
He's not. He's just come on here and said "stats mean nothing, it's all random" after what I think is a quite in depth statistical analysis. I have gone further and discovered that a slightly lower percentage of games have been draws compared to the same stage last season, which in fact suggests there are more points floating around the league. However, the number of teams around the playoffs sharing those points is arguably larger due to the statistics I have already presented, suggesting each team will have fewer on average by the end of the season. I believe what I have presented gives a decent representation of the number of points the 6th placed team will finish on based on the previous season. AKCJ has just basically snubbed out my entire argument with no factual basis whatsoever, in a way I've only ever seen religious folk do when presented with reasoned arguments that claim religion is a waste of time. And when someone argues like a religious person, alarm bells ring. I could go further and compare the previous 5 seasons. But now I feel my efforts would be wasted.
Study history, learn from it so you don't repeat the same mistakes in the future. Not sure who I am paraphrasing, but it sounds like good advice.
I agree with your point, but from what I could see he was just putting an opinion forward which you disregarded, he is still allowed an opinion different to yours. I agreed with you earlier in the thread, I still allow people to question me without me responding to them in the way you did to him What do you mean, how good am I with technology? I don't know what that is to do with entirely

I'm a bit grumpy but my point stands that it didn't really contribute anything to the discussion. As for the technology part, if you could get a stream set up with a password, it would be significantly better quality with zero popups and no risk of getting a virus or a keylogger. The password essentially eliminates any risk of being caught.

Firstly, I havn't come here to wum. I just don't see how you can relate this season to any other previously. What you've got is all correct and the 'facts' are true. But I just can't see how you can say that 'because on average we need x amount of points we'll need the same this season'. It doesn't work. Look at last season in the Prem. The points total required to survive was higher than average and sides like Birmingham were relegated on 39 points ( a total that would have seen them finish 14th the season before.) What i'm saying is that the league becomes stronger and weaker each season and (with the league being stronger this season than it was last) i'll bet that the point total required will be lower than 'average'. Honestly, i'm not winding you up, I just see this type of thing as a waste of time. The only way you'll get into the playoffs is by winning as many games as possible, not by gaining x amount of points.
He's clearly not saying that though is he ? All he's done is look at some stats from a previous season and given his opinion on how many points he thinks a club would need to get into the play-offs this season and invited us all to 'Discuss'. No, winning as many games as possible will win you the league, undefeated with a ridiculously high points total. Gaining 'x' amount of points will get you into the play-offs, we just don't know the value of 'x' yet, hence this discussion. Err..... I beg to differ.
And i'm saying it's a waste of time. I'm talking as of where you are now. You can't say 'when we hit the magic total of x then we'll be in the play-offs'. You need to keep winning and gaining more points than those above you. There is absolutely no point in looking back previous seasons to find averages or what not.

Actually we probably could pinpoint an exact points total, because many of the teams around us still have to play each other and so can't all pick up maximum points.
