I know, they would have never have signed under Warnock but obviously did under Hughes.

Just as MON would never have signed for T&C but very well could have under TF.

They wouldn't have signed under Warnock last summer because primarily he was given no funds. Or are you saying that Warnock is so bad, he has a reputation in Italy?

And so TF's first action should have been to sack NW?

Warnock was given at least £5m under T&C, £1.5m for DJ and £3.5m for DG and then he wasted the massive wages that TF allowed.

Im saying thats what I would have done, I knew he would fail and relegate us, he did it on every previous occasion in the PL. Its not uncommon for a new owner to want his own man however I know it would have been very unpopular as you can see now, we have people so delusional they still think we were playing well under him and he would have kept us up.

In the context of the £90m windfall that the Prem is worth, and considering the gulf in class between the two leagues, he was effectively given bugger all. He said himself he'd have to build two teams. One for promotion and another for the Prem. DJ was 1.2m and Gabbidon was a free. As for wasting wages, presumably in relation to JB that is offset by the fact he was also a free transfer.

Just before you came on here someone ran a poll regarding whether NW should be fired. It was just before he did get the bullet. 30% wanted him gone. 70% didn't. We had a bad run that lasted about 7 weeks. In this time we'd played among others Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool. The night he got the bum's rush TF got dogs on Twitter. He'd never have sacked him back in August.

Barton cost more than DG would despite him being "free". Barton cost us £4m a season, SWP £3m a season. DG cost £3.5m plus say a generous 30k wages = £3.5m plus £1.5m per season.
    over 3 years
    Barton = £12m
SWP = £12 (assuming he was a £3m buy, cant be bothered to check)
DG = £8m plus at least a million saved each season after that.

Over a 3 or 4 year deal, wed have been better off buying 3 players for £3-5m and paying them normal wages, the whole squad wouldnt have been split. Thats exactly what the other 2 teams did.

£25-30m alone was spent on 2 players who were rubbish. Now if youre TF would you trust him to spend your money? Youd have to be mad.

some people live in an alternative reality where they think NW was going to keep us up and it was just a small 3 month blip! It comes as no surprise that one of them thought Cisses challenge wasnt a red card either.

I think at least we all agreed that it was NWs time to go.

The other two teams didn't have the uncertainty and lack of interest from the owners that we did. I've said before and I'll carry on saying it, they had an entire summer to do what we had to cram into 10 days. I think NW did as well as could be expected. I'm sure they were queuing around the block to join us.

And seriously don't just pull figures out of the air to support your case. Give me a source. DG £3.5m? JB £4m? SWP £3m a season? Where do you get these figures from?

    cant disagree with that mate.....

NW had to go...prob for the wrong reasons, but we needed change from the top.

personally, as you well know Flyer..I never liked the man, but he was exactly what our club needed and i supported him.
He worked miricles with what he had and we went up as champs...should have been able to walk away with his head held high and remembered as a Legend..Shame it always comes to this..?
    IMHO

Yeah you see this is what I have a problem with. When you start throwing out the insults. Keep going. Anybody who doesn't agree with you lives in an "alternate reality"? The "blip" lasted from 19th November to 7th January. 7 weeks in my reality.

WRONG! Some of us didn't - and still don't. Hughes has been terrible. Posh and Donny await.

Warnock didn't negotiate the deals, that was done by Beard, it's the CEO's responsibility, there were several other players such as Bellamy who were pursued but we were in the 'last chance saloon' of the window. The fact you don't like Warnock clouds your view...

I think we have been over all this before but... it was pretty clear that Warnock was not going to cut it as a PL coach. His tactics were unbelievably simplistic and he relied solely on the passion he invoked from the players to make any headway. However, it was a mistake to replace him in mid-season and another mistake to make our biggest ever investment in players during January. TF should have gone with his original instinct and let Warnock have the season come what may. If we went down then he was clearly the man to get us back on track again. If not then a new appointment in May or June would have the time needed to build a new squad. Given the change of heart we saw from TF someone clearly got to him and convinced him to bet the farm on staying up rather than the sensible growth he always spoke about. Just how destructive that damascean moment is on our club remains to be seen but things do look bleak as the finances just don't add up for the Championship.
