If players were tired Our best period of the game yesterday coincided with his arrival on the pitch LFC's results in Carroll's last 7 starts: WWDWDWW â Last 7 without: DDLLLLL Personally I think theres a personality clash between Kenny and Andy, its also astonishing this year how many times we have played with only 1 striker at home, perhaps here in lies a reason behind why our home record this year is the worst since the 50's
Carroll does alot more for the team than just score goals. When we (newcastle) beat Sunderland 5-1 he was our best player but didn't get on the scoresheet. Every set peice he has the oppositions best marker on him and often a second guy just off him too, this creates space for other players. For us his movement frightened opposition defences and allowed Nolan to score tons of goals - i'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Gerrard is better than Nolan, don't see why it couldn't work as well for you guys.
kenny dropped carroll because he is still yet to come to terms with modern day football management techniques.
Nah, I like him, need a run of games though, was starting to come good and then back on the bench. With no Agger, Lucas, Bellamy or Carroll we look ****e. =(
It baffles me when a player is playing good that management find it ok to drop the player.I know that would do my head in Carroll is a confidence player how can he build that when he gets thrown on the bench Like Haslam said is that Newcastle used Carroll to get panic in the box and scored a few while he was at it HE CAN'T DO THIS WHILE HE IS ON THE BENCH We need to sort this out
Well we can agree to disagree. However I do agree that it is worth giving carrol 8 starts in the last 8 league games. He is young and you need to play him to see what he can do. Kenny should whack in the future of your club in these games and not bother with those who he knows what they can do (within reason ofc). Will he do this? i think so.
I like Carroll and think there is a decent 15 goal a season striker there, but service to him has been crap
I think his problem has been his price tag and the pressure and attention that has come with it. He will never be a world class striker but you paid money as if he was. That makes things hard for carrol.
I agree with you there Arsenal. I think he's he's better than Heskey, Crouch or Kevin Davies ever were and there were a couple of good international careers out of that trio. He isn't world class though and the price tag is a stick people use to beat him unfairly. There were no expectations of him at Newcastle and he gradually became ace, i still don't feel he's been given a good chance at Liverpool. I don't see what you've got to lose now, tell him he has 8 league games on the bounce to play and use Suarez and Gerrard playing off him (or Bellamy if he comes back) - I think he can be a top 4 team player, just not a world beater.
At Newcastle the play was more direct and involved Carroll more. We have tried to play 'nicer' football but we have suffered and KK has said yesterday that they may have to change this. We may see Carroll start more games now but what frustrates me when he plays is his constant whinging to the referee for falling over. If the decision does not go his way..move on, but he goes on about it for a little longer.
