If you have an average player on an inflated contract you're going to struggle to find someone to sign him. I certainly don't remember AP saying something like what you've said, unless you have evidence to prove otherwise?
Would there be an agent's commission somewhere in this? Otherwise - why such a good deal if he isn't that good? P.S. - Who is/was his agent....anyone know?
To be fair to TWF i do seem to remember AP saying something along those lines, even if I do doubt it makes much of a difference. You would think that a fair few French teams must be interested.
To my mind, he's not so much talking down Ghilas, but rather using him as an example of the profligacy of the Duffen/Bartlett/Brown 'reign'. (But thanks for the link, by the way)
That deal was done to line Duffen's pockets, Ghilas was on £1,200 a week when we offered him £20k a week, the £600k agent fee was split between the agent and Duffen, though at least we got Duffen's share back. Whatever bollocks TWF wants to post about AP, the fact is that the investigation into Duffen began because we paid £2m + fee's for Zayatte, while AP was offered him at Derby just before we signed him, for £300k. Duffen was so ****ing dim, he actually left details of his off-shore account in his office when he left.
He's come out with a few of these daft statements to the media about a few players, that obviously aren't going to help the club, but are there instead to deride the previous management. Obviously it makes him sick to his stomach that he wasn't around when we got to the Premiership, and now he wants to act as some sort of White Knight riding in to save us all. The only reason he's here in the first place is a clever PR stunt from Bartlett to deflect attention away from his mistakes. The man's a joke, knows he can get away with murder because people treat him like a God, and he just takes the piss quite frankly.
By using Ghilas as an example of how disastrous the last reign was you're saying that Adam Pearson is trying to make himself look good? I only occasionally lurk on here but it appears all you do is go on about how great Duffen and Brown were when the fact is they may ****ed up the only opportunity we had at becoming an established top flight club, with players like Ghilas been an example to how ****witted they were.

Going by the others' posts, it would appear you see things very differently from most fans! Are they all wrong? Are you the only one who sees things as they are/were? What, precisely, is your vested interest in all this?
TWF always Slags of AP, in the hope that it might deflect attention from the fact that Brownie signed ****e and Duffen was a thief, it never works, I'm surprised he hasn't given up yet. He's like King Canute.
