Who knows what the ideal capacity would be, valid arguments all round. A sensible compromise might be to go for 25k but make provision via the infrastructure to cheaply add more capacity in the future should the situation demand.

That said, if the comparative cost for 35k as opposed to 25k is not dramatically disproportionate then go for the higher capacity. So there might be spare seats but these can always be sold to schools and young people at a cheap price thereby filling the stadium, creating atmosphere and developing support for the club in future years. In the meantime we would still sell out for Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea. This would give us 6 x 15k extra gate money over present capacity, approx 90k. This equates to over 4 full houses more at our present level plus the inevitable higher gates we would get from the other games.

Yes, we would rattle about there should we get relegated. Some posters are taking it for granted that we will be. How negative is that? We have spent years realising this dream and I don't think that anyone at the Liberty has any intention of giving it up cheaply. Wigan managed to stay up for seven (?) seasons and I believe we can at least emulate them. Should we do that our club, with its sensible fiscal policies, should be set for life.

lets walk before we should run, to go all out and over extend the liberty could well come back to haunt us, we are the minnows in the premiership and the newbees, others in the past have had a good first season only to find themselves back in the championship and even league one a couple of seasons later. lets get this academy and training ground up and running before putting a few thousand on the gate as that is more important than any thing else at the present time in our infancy in the premiership.....the club would have a better chance of staying here with them two projects in place....

Think the academy is one thing that is needed more than expansion, but the expansion brings money in now if done. I wonder how much money the club is going to spend on these things ?

Talking of money, do you know when the naming rights of the stadium is up? And the 32Red sponsorship ? With us being in the premier league those could be a lot more with the exposure we are getting now.

The training facilities and Academy are paramount but the club is also talking about the ground, so I assume they are financially planning for all three. We made one costly mistake with too low capacity so let's not make another one.

10 million would build a nice high end facility with most of the bells & whistles , a very attractive option for young or old players to want to come & spend time learning the " Swansea Way " of playing .

Might as well built a state of the art place while times are good . It will be for the senior squad & youth academy . If one or two new " Joe Allens' " come out of the place , whether they play for us or get sold on it will pretty well pay for itself . If not , got a beauty of a place for generations to come . P. S. I think the preferred site is Fairwood for the training ground

Cracker Swansea Airport is in fairwood, it's really an out of the way place full of sheep and empty fields. And the same argument can be made with the expansion of the stadium.

Looks like Rodgers is here to stay - the new facilities will be just up the road from where he lives. OK, probably a coincidence.

The times are good crackerjack so by using the analogy above, the time for expansion is probably now. And I would say with many thousands of fans waiting for tickets that these fans are not just new ones just sprung up.

If I knew the club was staying up for an extended period valley , I'd be all in on the stadium expansion . Everything looks better on Premiership paper , especially to the new season ticket fans that did spring up after Wembley because they weren't around before Wembley .

I for one are happy that were considering expanding the ground capacity, to what size not sure but at least up to 30k.

I might be able to get some home tickets then.

Come on nobody knows that unless you have a crystal ball tucked away somewhere, while the going is good we must get an academy, and we must expand or at least make the provisions for doing that. We cannot do these things when the times are bad or we don't have the money so it must be done while we are up.

Sorry valley & I don't mean no disrespect to anyone as I am a far away fan but frankly , the only fans that I truly care about are those 13 to 15 thousand fans that came all the time before Wembley ( some of which didn't get tickets after Wembley ) . If we drop back down & these " new " fans stick around , I'll stand corrected but till then ..............Again sorry , but I feel strongly on the subject .. Cheers !!

Sorry but that is short sighted, I didn't go to Wembley as I was on holidays at the time and I have only been a season ticket holder for 2 years. But I have a couple of friends who can't get tickets for love or money now, they I suppose would be new fans for going to games, but have been fans for years and are from the area. What you are saying is that their money is no good, and that the club should only have 13k-15k fans, what about expanding our fanbase ? We can't do that with 13k fans.

Sorry guy , that's not what I'm saying at all . Wembley has nothing to do with what I'm saying , only before & after Wembley . What I'm saying is all this needing tickets since Wembley will dry up with relegation . Most people wanting tickets now didn't want them before Wembley & won't want them after relegation some day .. Cheers !

Cracker not sure how you can say that.

Yes a lot of fans have jumped on the premiership bang wagon but I rememer watching a game down the vetch with just over a 1000 there.

The liberty and the extra fans we had from that move prepelled us to where we are today.

If we are selling out we need new fans to jump on our bang wagon and move the team onto new heights!
