what the hell is going on, we cant defend ,the midfield cant pass the ball, and our so called star striker cant stay on the field, you have to laugh or you would cry, total farce
Nope. I looked. I looked again. Then I double-checked. Can't find anything wrong with what you've said. Very succinct.
Mercenaries, the lot of them, pick up the money and get to the end of the season, then move on.The worst team I can remember in 45 years. They should hang their heads in shame.
A bit harsh Ruislip There are still players - Derry, Hill, Mackie amongst others - giving their all, but I agree that many just appear to be happy to see the season out Part of me understands this though. Not many of us would turn down a move of employer if it meant earning the sums that many of the players do. They are after all just employees - few players have a real emotional connection to the club and fans
That's a disgraceful thing to say. Excuse people earning 50+k per-week from giving their best just because they're employees? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Swords - there is a world of difference between UNDERSTANDING this behaviour (which I do) and CONDONING it (which I don't) Unfortunately many of these guys are earning (or should I say being paid) massive sums of money at a time when they aren't really mature enough to appreciate how lucky they are, and many (not all I accept) are more interested in spec'ing their new Range Rover Sport than anything else Most people's earning power peaks in their 40s / 50s - many footballers have stopped earning from playing by 30
I will defend Derry, Mackie, Hill and actually Ferdinand to the hilt (and Kenny who is trying but I believe is carrying an injury and lacking in confidence). There is nothing wrong with their spirit and aptitude.....It is the newbies who are the problem, who only seem to play in fits and starts....mostly because they have all played for better teams and have had it given to them on a plate. Now they have to make their own plays they cannot do it (yet). The players who have played for lower clubs (Hill Mackie etc) are trying to make their own game. This is why Morison and Graham have done so well for Norwich and the Swans. Diakte, Onouha and Cisse are trying to hard, Barton, SWP are just TRYING
Apologies to Derry, Hill, Mackie etc. Everybody else signed since August falls into the category of mercenary.
I know everyone wants Derry, Hill, Mackie, Faulin to stay with the club if we go down but I can see all four leaving to lower Prem clubs or newly promoted ones as they have shown their squad value, and then what? Therefore if the costly players go the stalwarts leave the two loanees leave, we really will have little more than a mid to low table championship side left as it will still be hard to attract players to LR, and then what? Bring on Hulse and Agyemang Not being a doom and gloom merchant just feel this season will take another 15 to recover because I just can not see us bounce back!
Sad thing is Swords I think they ARE trying their best, they are just too thick to implement what Hughes is asking them to do, and the general air of desperation makes them try too hard and make the wrong choices. I've seen teams give up (Irish pack v England) and we haven't done that yet. The only one I worry about in this respect is Traore, who I love but have noticed him stopping and staring into the middle distance on occasion. To be fair I think this is an attention deficit rather than a morale problem. Or perhaps he is thinking about something REALLY important.
Only one new player has lived up to their expectation or wage packet. Cisse, good when hes on the field but had a negative effect on 9 games and a positive in 3. Zamora, lazy which is a shame as he looks decent when he actually gets involved. Barton, rivals Torres for the biggest waste of money in the league, in 1.3 games without him we scored 2 set pieces. SWP, abysmal, how many times has be beat his man? Onuoha, very poor, has been all over the place recently. Young, while he doesnt make obvious mistakes, look at how many crosses come in from the RB position when he plays, 2 on Sat. Ferdinand. Average. Gabbidon, poor. Dyer, a joke signing but perhaps worth the gamble. Campbell, useless Bothroyd,, see Campbell. Diakite and Taiwo have showed promise but they wont be with us next season and that leaves us with 1 good signing, Traore. The only new player who Im happy with along with the likes of Mackie, Derry, Hill, Cerny, HH, Taarabt and Faurlin.
