Best Driver: Alonso (just over Perez) - Showed why he is the best driver on the grid. Worst Driver: Massa - Over 90 secs behind his team mate . Best Rookie: Vergne - Good points finish. Best Team: Williams - On for a double points finish if Maldo's car had not given up. Worst Team: Mercedes - Disappointing in the race. Best Overtake: Button on Massa. Funniest-moment: Red Bull giving out mixed signals to Vettel. Most Surprising Result: Perez 2nd. Least Surprising Result: Alonso destroying Massa. Special Mention to: Amazing drives by Perez and Senna. Race Rating: 9/10 Best Commentator overall:N/A
•Best Driver: Alonso, Perez •Worst Driver: Massa •Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne •Best Team: N/A •Worst Team: HRT •Best Overtake: Ricciardo v Senna (or Kobayashi in the same place a few laps later) •Funniest-moment: Brundle "I couldn't fit in Alonso's seat, his hips are too girly" or "Raikkonen's probably been bribed with an ice-cream" •Most Surprising Result: The entire race •Least Surprising Result: Massa is slow and Karthikeyan doesn't get out of people's way. •Special Mention to: Webber/Kimi/Hulkenberg/Di Resta/Petrov/Ricciardo •Race Rating: 10/10 •Best Commentator overall:
Best Driver: Perez and Alonso Worst Driver: Massa, but Button and Grosjean were both very poor today Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne Best Team: Ferrari. Their strategy, pit stops and driver were all perfect. Worst Team: McLaren - 1-2 qualifying, fastest car ---> 15 points. Best Overtake: Alonso on a Red Bull (was it Vettel?) Funniest-moment: Karthikeyan up in 10th Most Surprising Result: Alonso P1, Perez P2 Least Surprising Result: Massa's performance Special Mention to: Senna - Alonso and Perez get the glory today, but Senna had a great result. Race Rating: 10/10 Best Commentator overall: Brundle
Best Driver: Perez, but really - Alonso, Senna, how can one choose? Worst Driver: Button - others were as bad, perhaps, but he had a car he could have done something with. Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne. Best Team: Sauber by a nose from Ferrari. Worst Team: McLaren marginally from Mercedes. Best Overtake: Button on Massa but for what? 15th? Funniest-moment: Red Bull - "they used to be indecisive but now they're not so sure." Most Surprising Result: Button's poor driving (mistake and pace). Least Surprising Result: Rosberg. Special Mention to: Monisha Kaltenborn. Race Rating: 8/10 Best Commentator overall: David Coulthard.
Coulthard? We haven't even seen the beeb coverage yet! I didn't watch the race, i was having a lie in after my trip to the Emirates yesterday, i caught the end on 5live, so i'll give out my awards after the highlights.
Best Driver: Perez Worst Driver:Massa Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne):Vergne Best Team:Sauber Worst Team:Mclaren Best Overtake:Ricciardo on Schumacher (I think) Funniest-moment:Brundle's short interview with Owen Wilson on grid walk Most Surprising Result:No points for Vettel Least Surprising Result:Massa Special Mention to:Peter Sauber Race Rating:9/10 Best Commentator overall:Brundle
Best Driver: Alonso, Pérez, Senna - can't choose Worst Driver: Massa Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne Best Team: Sauber Worst Team: McLaren, Mercedes Best Overtake: Not a single move but Senna's carving through the field Funniest-moment: Red Bull cracking up Most Surprising Result: Pérez - although it was only a matter of time Least Surprising Result: Massa again Special Mention to: All of the new generation who made the points (and Maldo) Race Rating: 9/10 Best Commentator overall: Allen and Alguersuari - glad I tuned in.
Best Driver: Alonso - if that doesn't turn out to be drive of the season we're in for a real treat Worst Driver: Button - Hero to villain in one week Best Rookie: Vergne - looks a very good driver Best Team: Sauber - Incredible that they're mixing it up at the front of the grid with the resources they have Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: Ricciardo on Senna Funniest-moment: Karthikeyan running in 8th at one point Most Surprising Result: Perez Least Surprising Result: Massa Special Mention to: Schumacher beating Rosberg again despite getting spun round on the first lap Race Rating: 10/10 - A classic Best Commentator overall: Brundle
I watched a Canadian TV feed (sandwiched between two ice hockey games), which used the BBC commentary.
Best Driver: Alonso Worst Driver: None, nobody stands out. Best Rookie: Senna/Perez - Rookie = a person who has little or no professional experience. Best Team: McLaren Worst Team: Ferrari - I'm a fan of them. It shouldn't be possible for such a team to perform so poorly. Best Overtake: Senna on Massa - made me most excited for obvious reasons. Funniest-moment: Räikkönen setting fastest lap Brundle: "Where did that come from" Croft: "He wants to get it over with so he can have an ice cream" (or something similar, can't remember now) Most Surprising Result: Mercedes so far down. Least Surprising Result: McLaren on the podium Special Mention to: Räikkönen - Such a talent, great to have him back! And an awesome persona as well.. Race Rating: 8/10 Best Commentator overall: Martin Brundle, best ever after the legend Murray Walker.
Best Driver: Alonso Worst Driver: Grosjean. Crap driver ruined Schumacher's race. Best RookieVergne Best Team:Sauber Worst Team:HRT Always in the way. So slow and Ruined Button and Vettel's race. Best Overtake: Alonso on Perez Funniest-moment: Telling Vettel to stop then not again Most Surprising Result: Alonso winning. Least Surprising Result: Mclaren on the podium. They have the best car easily. Special Mention to: Get that Indian driver off the grid. Race Rating: 8/10 Best Commentator overall: Brundle
Best Driver: Sergio Perez Worst Driver: Jenson Button Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Ricciardo Best Team: Force India Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Red Flag - Raikkonen Jokes Most Surprising Result: Perez 2nd Least Surprising Result: Alonso 1st Special Mention to: Fernando Alonso - Easily best on the grid with that kind of performance Race Rating: 8/10 Best Commentator overall: Martin Brundle
Best Driver: close between 3, but ALONSO didn't make any mistake Worst Driver: Massa Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne Best Team: Probably McLaren Worst Team: HuRT Best Overtake: Kobay on Schumacher or Webber on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Redbull not knowing if they wanted to retire or not. Most Surprising Result: Ferrari first Least Surprising Result: Massa's Ferrari not Special Mention to: Perez and Senna. Could've been higher without small mistakes, but great drives in challenging conditions Special Needs Mention to: Grosjean, Button & Vettel Race Rating: 8/10, I would've liked to've seen Sauber take on the Ferrari, but can't help feeling 'we need that place' is similar to 'Alonso is faster than you' Best Commentator overall: I refuse to watch any sky broadcast
Those who do not wish to see certain language may well wish to skip this set of predictions. I'm not a happy bunny. Best Driver: Alonso. He pips Perez solely because of the Mexican's "mistake" which possibly cost him victory. I believe them to be team orders, but if they were I think less of Perez for not telling the team to go screw themselves. Worst Driver: Massa . Today is conclusive proof that Massa really is as ****e as the media have been making out. Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): It's hard not to go for Vergne, but credit to his teammate for the job he did on the slicks. Best Team: Sauber. They pip Ferrari not because of Perez's bold strategy early on (for me it's more a case of thinking less of midfield teams that aren't prepared to be bold, than giving Sauber special credit for it regularly), but because the decision to go for the harder tyres almost won the race. Worst Team: Caterham. In these conditions with a car which in the dry is near the midfield, and with the driving lineup they have, I expected much better than 16th and 18th. Best Overtake: Button on Massa. Passing someone as talentless as Massa for 15th place is about as satisfying as hacking a sleeping Bambi to death with a machete, but it was a beautifully done move, and even more brave than it looks when you consider the things Massa will normally do to try to defend a lost cause. Funniest-moment: Vettel's entire race. Most Surprising Result: Perez second. Normally in this type of situation the underdog team makes one bold decision too many. Least Surprising Result: Maldonado achieving **** all. Special Mention to: Perez, because I didn't give him the best driver award Race Rating: 10/10. It wasn't Canada 2011, but that doesn't make it ineligible for the top score. This is what we should expect from races in changeable conditions on purpose built racetracks. Best Commentator overall: A blatantly pro-Sky question, particularly bearing in mind that the question was asked hours before the BBC's TV coverage even aired and next to no-one will have heard both Brundle and Allen. I refuse to answer on principle.
Don't know why people have picked Ferrari as best team, Button ****ed up, not McLaren, otherwise it probably would've been a different podium order, Ferrari's other car wasn't in any accidents and that didn't finish anywhere at all.
Best Driver: Alonso Worst Driver: Grosjean Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Ricciardo Best Team:Ferrari Worst Team:HRT too slow and a danger Best Overtake:Ricciardo v Senna Funniest-moment:Vettel making some shapes in anger v the HRT Most Surprising Result: Alonso/Perez positions Least Surprising Result:Massa's sad decline Special Mention toerez, might have won, team should have not put any pressure on him and just let him drive Race Rating:8 /10 Best Commentator overall: Edwards/Coulthard great, not missing Brundle, hopefully people won't be signing up for SKY
Why you blaming Vettel. Not his fault when a stupid Indian who is being LAPPED does not get out of the way.
