What a race. Gutted that Perez didn't take the win in the end, would've been one of the all time great performances if he had in my opinion. The cynical part of me wonders whether Ferrari were leaning on Sauber not to beat them, Sauber seemed determined not to win the race with their last pitstop, and then told Perez not to jeopardise the 18 points. I thought it was going to be game over in the gambling game after Fred's bet. <laugh> Alonso fully deserved the win though, superb drive, winning from eighth with what the fifth best car? maybe worse. Amazing performance. <applause>

Massa looked like getting some solid points for a while before having another mare. Perez has had two brilliant performances in a row now and is looking like the next big thing in F1 - I'm having to eat my words here after dismissing his talent in the middle of last season, he looks the real deal right now - it's such an obvious move for Ferrari to give him Massa's seat.

Gutted about the way Seb's race turned out, not sure why they left him out so long before putting him on slicks, it cost him a podium, but then a few teams were guilty of doing the same. I didn't watch the post race analysis, but of the two replays they showed of his accident I thought initially he'd cut across Karthikeyan too early, but from the second replay I thought it looked like NK was trying to steal a tow a clipped him. I noticed Karthikeyan was running in 8th at one point, does anyone know if he got any higher? <laugh>

No surprise to see the Mercedes' dropping away again in the race. Their DRS is clearly worth a huge chunk of lap time, it's going to be a race in itself for the other teams to get similar system on their car.

Hamilton had a strange race again, the pace just didn't seem to be there. Not sure whether it's him or the car, Button wasn't really a suitable benchmark after his race fell apart. I suspect McLaren might have more of a quail car, like Mercedes but not quite as extreme.

Ricciardo had a strange race. Every time they showed him he seemed to be overtaking someone for a lower position. <laugh> His overtake on Senna was fantastic.

I'm obviously going to have a rant about the safety car again. The fact that drivers were wanting to switch to inters is more proof that they're massively overcautious with the safety car, the same thing happened in Canada last year. They need to learn to get on with it. They're on about promoting the sports green credentials, yet they have Pirelli cart thousands of wet tyres around the globe all year despite having no intention of letting the drivers race on them. <steam>

Crofty got on my tits a bit, every time a McLaren is doing something good it's the driver, anyone else and it's the car. Brundle actually had to remind him at one point that Perez was having a good race and it wasn't just the car being really quick and kind to its tyres. <doh> He also kept saying Alonso and Perez had it easier in the wet because they were on their own and didn't have spray to contend with, despite Hamilton and Vettel being behind, also with clean air, faster cars but slower lap times. He really did irritate me today. <grr>

Sorry about the enormous post, my internet dropped out so I just stuffed everything in one post while I waited for it to come back. <whistle>

I cant believe there are people saying Ferrari dictated to Sauber, saying Sergio slowed down towards Alonso. Segio busted his ****ing balls that race just like Alonso, no way was that fixed.

He gets too excited IMO. Everytime there were cars wheel to wheel he would scream with excitement. And Damon Hill is really starting to get on my nerves, he stutters when he talks, when he talks he hardly says a thing and he stands like a gay man.

No offence to gay people by the way.

If Vergne and Vettel were in that position people would say the same. I'm not saying Perez wasn't trying to win the race, just seems weird that Sauber didn't pit him on the same lap Alonso did, it seemed so obvious, then they stuck him on primes instead of options. Although thinking about it I seem to recall them saying they had more pace on the primes than options after quali.

What a great race. Big congrats to Alonso and Perez! Well done Senna for showing his ability to handle the car in slippery conditions(as I thought he would) and Räikkönen for being fast and consistent throughout.

It took me some 45 minutes to read up on everything in this thread since the race started and I am completely shocked at some peoples opinions.

Someone saying Alonso being a **** driver and nobody likes him? Can you be more clueless? Alonso is probably the only current driver that has proven to be pretty damn all around complete. If anyone is ever going to break Schumacher's record of 7 WDC's, Alonso is surely the main man for the job. How can anyone doubt him after today? And this is only one of many many times before he has proved himself to be one of the very best. The same person claiming Alonso has been **** over the last three years. I would assume that this person is probably new to the sport..

Much disappointed with Mercedes, as they sounded pretty confident to have made steps forward to come on terms with their lack of race pace. Sad to see Schumacher being hit early which ruined his race even more. Had been interesting to see how he would have coped with everything had he had a clean race, though the car looks to have finished pretty much where it deserved.

Grosjean deserves a girlie slap for trying to give blame instead of accepting he made a mistake. But he is green and I wouldn't rule him out just yet. I think he will show to be a very potent driver in the future.

Surprised to see so many people praising Senna. Well I thought he was amazing but I am a fan and biased. Maldonado showed good pace too but a bit unlucky. I am sure they will both do even better in what's to come. Really nice to see Williams moving in the right direction again, I miss them as a top team.

Good to see Webber having a decent race despite a Red Bull with issues. He deserves a good season.

I feel a bit sad for Massa, and really hope he can turn things around until mid season when his guaranteed 10 races are up. He has always been a decent and solid driver up until his accident(or was it until Alonso joined?), and a really likeable guy. Would be a shame for him to end his career like this.

It is for me a great season overall, with plenty of surprises and a nice mix up between what was previously classified as top and mid field teams. Cant wait for next race!

Who insulted Alonso? He's proved himself as the best driver on the grid numerous times, today proved it again. Taking a terrible car to a suprise victory, you wouldn't see Hamilton or Vettel doing that.

Yeah forget what I said about Sauber and Ferrari, Perez said yesterday that he preferred primes to options. <ok>

Very unfortunate with Seb. Narain turned into him but you can clearly see Narain was looking for him and trying to get out of his way before he got to that point on the straight.

    Racing incident IMO.

Actually, I've seen them both do that! Not to take anything away from Alonso.

From what i gather, Karthikeyan was a bit of an issue today. Cost Button a probable win, and cost Vettel a podium. How does he have a superlicense?

The Toro Rosso was a good car, so Vettel's Monza win doesn't count, and Hamilton has never driven a terrible car (the 09 McLaren started badly, but by mid season was a top car)

I believe there is only so much you can do when it's chucking it down and your wearing a helmet, doing 150+mph

    this:
Can't be bothered to scroll through it all again, but other people suggesting that Alonso being a WDC contender being a joke. Well he almost did it in a complete dog car in 2010, so why shouldn't he be able to do it this year?

I don't see a title challenge for Alonso (this car is far worse than the 2010 car) but if they can rapidly improve it, i see a few more wins available.

I believe Perez was visiting a police force out in Mexico and tried out a few hand guns. So you only have to read the location to get a hint what joke im trying to do lol.
