As most of you must know, the JPT final is on tomorrow at Wembley, the home of football I don't know how many fans are expected to be there, but if the atmosphere is anything as good as it was two years ago then it should be quite a good one and hopefully it will be a good game with league 1 Chesterfield coming out as the winners over the fascist Di Canio's Swindon. I still remember the amazing scenes of Wembley being full of red and white stripes, flags and shirts.44,000 saints fans packed Wembley and it could of been more as we all know. Even though it was the paint pot trohy,it gave the club a winning mentality that has proved to be very important. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17419742
Yeah, a brilliant day out. Makes me a little sad now when I think of Markus. Shame he could have seen the last couple of years, he was already proud but this would have been ace. I reckon Swindon will win 2-1 tomorrow.
Part of me is looking forward to Pompey getting excited about winning the odd game in this cup after all the sneering when we won it. Great day out and glad Markus got a small reward for all he's done for us.
I assume Lee Holmes is eligible to play? I haven't bothered to look into whether or not he's already featured in the competition for Oxford, but as he was only recently on loan at there, I'm assuming they were knocked out long before he joined them. Would be good to see him out there, and hopefully lift the cup.
I just hope both sets of fans have as much fun as we did. Not a lot can beat winning at Wembley but going there, confident that we were going to win was pretty good.
Di Canio on Sky saying that winning JPT will be the greatest day of his life. He said, 'Even when I win the Champions League, I will look back at this as the start of my career.' What is it about these Italians...could have been Cortese talking.
Just said on Sky that Holmes is the best player out there. Mind you not too surprised about that. He's a great player with injuries curtailing his career at Saints. By the time he got fit again, we had moved on.
Chesterfield won 2-0. Holmes was head and shoulders above everyone on that pitch. His passing, running and crossing was all quality. Should've scored in the 2nd Half but he's definitly Championship level thats for sure.
