Well, not a great title for a thread but each number is the league position of Southampton after each game. No-one can say we dont deserve to go up automatically. Never outside the top 2. Only off top spot 8 times. I know its what counts after game 46 but i am really starting to believe now. Such great consistency, now away as well as at home. A 9 point gap to 3rd albeit having played a game more. We all know how difficult it is to claw back a 10 point gap over the course of a whole season let alone 9pts over 8 games. begs the question for the west ham v reading game next week. a reading win surely west ham are out of it and its between us and reading who will be champtions or a west ham win and we STILL have a comfy position over 2nd, whatever we do against Blackpool but 3 teams still in it. HELP COYS
The fact you had to make a thead for this proves my point. If it were Norwich or Cardiff this would be the most known fact in footy.
Good to head into a tricky match with blackpool with the pressure off. I'm hoping we can seal promotion at the Reading game
I thought I was entering the matrix....................but this is far better! Good effort red&white!
I knew you must have a mathematical sort of mind to run the prediction game so efficiently RAWMOK. Mind you, fortunately you haven't had too many different numbers to contend with for this thread, I'm tempted to say that even Beddy could cope with them!
I am a bit troubled by this thread. I had a word with Beddy to explain the mathematical principles behind it and he felt that it can't be a good thing that we have only moved up one place during the whole season! Adkins out!
I may be mistaken but I thought we dropped to 3rd during our crap run around December/Jan with Cardiff and West Ham being 1st and 2nd?
Correct. Never between the end of one match-day and the start of another. Possibly during a game though.
We actually were 3rd on Saturday 17th September, as we didn't play that day. We beat West Ham the next day to return to the top. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2011-2012/table/2011-09-17
Not going to count that...no reason except that it doesn't coincide with Fran's view of the world. Interesting the teams around us (Brighton, Derby, M'boro)...only West Ham are still in the race.
Yeah - For half an hour or so against Cardiff on 31st Jan, when they were leading us 1-0, we were down in 3rd place (with Cardiff themselves overtaking us).
Yes, I'm not sure how many have done it but QPR definitely did it last season with them only dropping down to 2nd on 3 occasions throughout the whole season.
I've been saying the same thing to my son over the the last few weeks. But as I've said to him repeatedly, I still won't get too excited, as we haven't played anyone above us yet!!!
