Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal. Sunderland 1-0 Liverpool. Liverpool 3-0 Everton. QPR 3-2 Liverpool. Liverpool 1-2 Wigan. Win:2 Draw:2 Lost:7. 8 Points out of 33. Enough said really.
I was merely pointing out we took 8 points from 11 games. I wasn't calling for Kennys head or anything. But surely we can all agree that something needs to change, it's just a matter of what?
No offence taken mate . It's just a hard statistic to turn your head at. For me though it is hugely down to Lucas being out, but as a club with top 4 ambitions we need to deal with key losses much better. Look at United, they've had injuries through out the team all season long and they're still fighting for 1st. Maybe it's our mentality? A lot of our new signings have come from mid-table/Relegation teams who are not used to the pressures of a club like Liverpool.
I'd be interested to see this compared to Wolves, Wigan and QPR. Is ours currently the worst league form?
It could well be thinking about it, QPR haven't been in good form though apart from their win against us. Wigan are unbeaten in 7 games and I have no idea about Wolves.
Agreed I'm a little worried about Lucas when he does return, will he be the same player? I'd actually like to see us restore the 4231 formation we played under Rafa with Lucas and Spearing holding, let Gerrard have that free role back. Plus a forward and winger needs to come in: Reina Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique Lucas - Spearing Winger - Gerrard - Suarez Striker The problem is when you look at the back up player: GK: Doni, Jones RB: Kelly, Flanagan LB: Aurelio, Robinson CB: Carragher, Coates, Wilson CM: Shelvey RM: Kuyt, Maxi, Sterling LM: Kuyt, Maxi, Downing, Bellamy, Sterling CF: Carroll, Kuyt, Bellamy And I think there are question marks over whether the likes of Aurelio, Kuyt, Maxi and possibly Bellamy will still be with the club next season. Then there is Carragher! No worries at fullback IMO, but everywhere else there could be an issue.
Not much depth in midfield really, With the 3 players you mentioned starting it leaves Henderson, Shelvey and Adam as backup. not really players who can come on and dominate a game, or change a game for that matter. Infact the only match winner from midfield we have is Gerrard. On a positive note both Shelvey and Sterling impressed me in the short time they were on, both played very positive and did add something to our team.
My bad, I forgot about Henderson and Adam Although, to be fair, I don't want to see Adam anywhere near the first team. He is in the same category as Poulson, Jovanovic and Konchesky IMO Henderson I like. Good work ethic and has the ability, just needs to work on his decisions and either get used to playing out wide or force his way into the middle. Reminds me of Lucas and Kuyt when they arrived, both got stick but worked hard and won the fans over, I think Henderson will will the fans over given time.
Well it's easy to forget about Adam. It's hard to see what Hendersons best position is, he definitely isn't a Right midfielder, Nor is he a holding midfielder. We all know he has a great engine on him but he doesn't have the best of scoring records through-out his career so far so I doubt he could be effective in a Gerrard sort of role. He does though have an eye for a through ball, so maybe a future Partnership of: -----Henderson---Lucas------- But that would of course push Spearing out who I also had my doubts over but has gone about his business very well .
