Says it all... You seem almost proud of being too **** to compete with teams who've spent 1/10th as much as you I know you're desperate for someone to care about you, what with you being too insignificant a club to have Nottingham Forest or Derby give a ****, but we're not interested Enjoy being below us
A nil all draw between Brum v Cardiff would come in very handy tomorrow. It would still make a top 6 finish achievable .
Reading had an abysmal start, even compared to us, but they addressed their shortcomings and have improved vastly as a consequence. Why haven't we signed a striker, even on loan?! A lot of the games I've been to we've dropped points after battering the opposition, but that's the main reason for me saying we're not good enough - WE CAN'T SCORE GOALS FOR F*CK'S SAKE
Its far from over, but promotion looks a step to far this season. Despite that Barmby is going about things the right way. If we sign the right forwards in the summer, with this style of football I've every confidence we can make a stronger challenge next season. I just hope no Premier League teams come in for our top players. EDIT: Of course we really should have signed someone in the transfer window.
These posts were being made this time last year though. There's absolutely no guarantee we'll be better next season, especially if we're refusing to sign anyone.
Don't always agree with your natterings, Erik, but you're right on the money here!!! I'm gutted - we should've won this game (and needed to FFS)
Thats true, but we really are just a couple of players away from getting it right. Plus this summer it's Barmby and not Sargent flat top doing the shopping. I hope he knows that if you stand still in this game, you go backwards.
Ridiculous isn't it. We go ahead early on and even though we have the best defence in the league there is always a chance Leicester could get two lucky goals and suddenly be ahead. The same goes for every team except us. You can't just rely on a good defence every week, you'll get jammy deflected goals and stuff will go against you no matter how good your defence is. I thought an early goal would spur us on to give them a lesson like Cardiff and Bristol City and that may well have happened without a stupid Dawson error and a crazy deflection but we need to have more about us than just 'if we score early, and with a bit of luck, we might score some goals'. We need to be able to score goals regardless of the situation, it's ridiculous that we're such a good side at passing it about and controlling games but we just can't penetrate a defence for ****, or finish a chance when we make one. That's the frustrating thing. We were well inside the playoffs and looking at a top 2 challenge. Gradually that became a play-off challenge and now it's starting to look like **** all, all because of these wasted chances week in, week out. We get the odd win every few weeks and we all start to think it's coming together only for the next game to be another dominated game not won. See above.
I too think we're only a couple of players short, but the acid test comes in summer. Can we keep hold of our best players? We cannot start selling our best, young players. And, obviously, the right additions need to be made on top. Can we get the right players in? I think we could be in for a tough summer.
It's games like today which make the drawn home matches with Ipswich, Donny and Leeds stand out. Not giving up on the play offs just yet, there's still 24 points up for grabs but I feel our goals for column is gonna cost us. Scoring 38 goals in as many games isn't deserving of a top 6 place and not adding anyone else up front is proving costly error. Things haven't seemed right since those 3 straight defeats over Christmas when we were 4th in the league, we've had some good results, Reading, Birmingham, Cardiff but we haven't backed them up. We have the makings of a decent side who can challenge for the top places in this league, hopefully we can address our weaknesses over the summer and keep the nucleus of our squad intact.
I don't see why it's so hard for the management to see it I'd rather see us with a ****e back-four and a decent couple of forward players then vice-versa
My point was more one of - if we're going to be a mid-table side, at least be one that provides us with some entertainment. How many games this season have we been able to come away and say we've been thoroughly entertained? I've only been to around a dozen matches, but not one of them was enjoyable to watch. I don't go to matches to watch us keep clean-sheet, that's an afterthought - an added bonus, shall we say. I go to watch us score a few goals, not score in the first 20-25 minutes and then defend for over an hour in a home game, as we have done.
There is the theory that we didn't sign any players in the window because we don't have the funds. So that's a worry. Plus Brady and King are not our players, so we need to bring in at least 3-4 wide men/centre forwards. Looks like we will be playing the loan market again. And if we really don't have the funds to make signing's I'm going to end on a controversial note. If someone did come in with a silly money offer for Chester, then I'd be tempted to take it. The lad is pure class, but a good centre back is always easier to come by than a good centre forward.
Disappointing result today, we are a striker short as everybody knows, Nicky thought what we had in the building was enough but he is entitled to make a mistake or two in his rookie manager season. We might still scrape the play-offs so not time to give up just yet.
