This is something I have been thinking about recently, would any of you switch our position to that of Liverpool, meaning we already have a trophy in the bag, and a very good chance for another major trophy in the FA Cup, but we would be as dreadful as them in the league with no European football next year. What would you do?

Personally for the Carling Cup I wouldn't, but the FA Cup is a very good trophy to have, but I wouldn't consider it worth it by ending near mid-table, that would simply make you a cup team, and sort of a one off, rather than a 'successful' team, what say you all?

Their position in the table is embarrassing. Do not think I can put up with **** performances week in week out. I mean getting beat by Wigan at HOME. That must be a new low for them in the league.

that a tough one , a cup in the hand or a crack (however unlikely ) at the CL .

but it is only the Carling cup.

and if you dont at least aim high , you wll never win high .

  6. I wouldn't swap places with Liverpool. CL footie is more important than a couple of Cups especially if our summer goes the right way in terms of retaining RvP and getting some key players, we will have a great chance of real glory next year. Who wants to be like Liverpool anyway <laugh>

Today was just... bad. Worse than awful. Something is seriously wrong at that club.

Swap for the Carling Cup? NEVER.
Champions league football is too important moneywise and prestigewise for us.
You'll see a chavski in crisis if they don't qualify

No I couldnt. Its not the league position but the way they wasted all that money on completely cack players. That is why I dont think things can be expected to get any better there anytime soon

Liverpool can attract players because they're Liverpool, they have a worldwide fanbase that's bigger than ours, and let's face is, their history is better. We need CL football.

However, if it was a choice between 7th and a cup double, or 3rd and nothing, I might be inclined to take the first. I love a good cup :)

Never. Everyone knows that winning the league/ Champions league is the bread and butter, and at least we're taking steps forward from last season, despite losing key players.

We could be the same place they are, if only we signed quality players like Suarez.

Sorry, but that guy has done Liverpool in. Distractions, diving and flattering to deceive. Liverpool have always had a solid team mentality and Suarez has completely disrupted that.

It is a point of view, but as I remember RVP wasn't exactly a shining role model when he came to us !!

Liverpool: making Wigan look like Barcelona and Gary Caldwell look like Messi since 2012, I'm sorry, I had to steal this off the ja606 board <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

I agree, RVP had a nasty attitude... difference is, he had Wenger to whip him into shape. With the way Kenny has been acting towards the whole Suarez affair, I doubt Suarez will start behaving himself anytime soon. It's like a fahter rewarding his bad child's behavior and never reprimanding him/her, they will never learn.

And lets be honest, RVP seems like saint compared to what Suarez has done in his career.
