According to the daily mail Man City want to sign Nathaniel Clyne from Crystal Palace. He wouldn't even get in their team if he joins them while he would get plenty of games if he joined us. I wish City would chase other teams targets, their becoming like Chelsea, when were very close to signing Arjen Robben from PSV Enidhoven but they got him from under our noses.

    Thoughts ?

If a player choses another club other us then I'm not going to be upset about it. I'd rather we have players who want to play for us and who aren't soley here for the money.

Agreed, the last player to come through their academy is Micah Richards.

It is annoying when a target gets pinched at the last minute. Having said that this is nothing new. Chelsea as you say have done it. Real Madrid used to have this policy of buying the best players not necessarily to play in their first team but to stop a rival getting a good player to improve their team. This is the power of money these days.

To be fair we've nicked quite a few players out from under rivals' noses in our time. Keano from Blackburn and more recently Jones are the most obvious examples. I think most clubs keep an eye on the scouting activity of other clubs so they can see what players are likely to move and then try to muscle in. Just the nature of the modern game.

Yeah if we're watching a player and are keen on him but not ready to do a deal yet, we've been known to rush the deal through once another club get's interested. We did that with Keane and Jones but also with Rooney. We wern't going to buy Rooney that season but Newcastle suddently were readying a bid so Fergie paid what he had to to get him. Though I;'m sure like all clubs, we monitor other clubs scouting as best as we can, I don't think we've every truely stolen a transfer target, ie bought a player just because another club is interetsted. think on the occasions like with Kean, rooney and Jones, we were already interested in signing those players, it was just a question of when.

That said, I don't think tha City are genuinely interested in every player that we get linked to. Sure some of it probably is true, but I think we have to get used to the fact that the agents are going to link City to a lot of players just to get better deals from other clubs.

Its all paper talk. Unless the club comes out and says that a player is a target (which they are unlikely to do), I would believe what you read. Most of these 'targets' Utd are supposed to be after, will be linked with somebody else sooner or later, to create a story.
