Remember last year everyone went mental about Norwich and there back to back promotions and that Paul Lambert was god's ****ing gift. At no stage were Norwich top and Southampton are playing stuff the championship hasn't seen in a long time. It's ridiculous and it's all because we are southern. Nothing is made of the fact Adkins has revoulutionised this club. If we were Birmimingham or someone like that we would be the talk of the footballing world.

I think it is a little odd given that our record is better than that of Norwich last season.

Paul Lambert has done a good job so credit where credit is due <ok>

I think there will be more notice when it happens (whether it be this year or another season).

Take it one game at a time.

Think a lot of people wear PL blinkers which mean you see only PL teams and a few old favourites. We get decent tv coverage of matches and repeats of goals after each match, but there is very little discussion of what is going on here. An example of this is SKY continuing to repeat that Jos is a Celtic player for most of the day after our win against Hull. Half way through this season I saw one reporter refer to our money problems! I suspect that even with our recent TV coverage, a lot of people will say, ' Where did they come from?' on the opening day of the next PL season (if, if....I know).

Don't think it's about the geography but our lack of relationship with the media
They dislike us as don't court publicity, don't give interviews and don't let them even take pictures!
If we think it's bad now just wait til next season if we get promoted as we will be targeted for every bit of negative publicity the media can rack up

I've always said this. Let the others have the limelight and be the pundits choice.

Indeed. Most football fans aren't idiots. Most fans from opposing teams who have come on here in the last couple of seasons, have realised there's something a wee bit special going on. It's most pundits who seem to have the ignorance problem, mainly because they're simply not watching. The likes of Claridge and Rosenior, who do regularly watch football outside of the PL, know full well what Saints are capable of.

Oh, and I'm happy for Saints to stay under the radar too. It just makes things that little bit easier.

I don't know, we take up a fair few column inches in the Sunday papers, usually with a big picture of late. Certainly a lot more than whenwe were known as South Coast Team for a while! West Ham are all the talk in our league still. It was about how rthey will walk the league but now its about them stuttering and the pressure being on Allardyce. Listenig to Talksport this week they were having a good go at them and the fans about their perception that they have a god given right to be in the Prem. Happy to keep it that way as it puts more pressure on them.

See Allardyce got a bit Keeganesque after the Boro game when asked if he could catch us. He bit. Adkins handles the media very well, I swear he just has the answers already prepared and just reels them off regardless of what the question actually is.

Interviewer: Nigel, thats a nice tie your wearing, where did you get it?

Nigel: Yes we have a fabulous group of players here an are all in it together as one. Its just another result and we will review it on Monday and then re focus for the next match and do the same after that. we are looking no further aead than that.

What is it with you guys and your endless need for attention? If Saints coverage on the FLS is only a minute long or we're not on first we'll have a thread about it, ranting about how good we are and how well we've done.

We've put ourselves in a good position to get promoted but the last time I checked, the season wasn't over and we've achieved nothing so far.

Should we get promoted people will give us all the praise we deserve but until that point.. Just chill the f**k out!

Tbh no one talks about Birmingham - they're probably the smallest of Wolves, Villa, and WBA. And they were interminably boring when up in the Prem, so if we do go up people should be thankful.

The feeling in the game and the media seems to be that its more about West Ham throwing away the title than us winning it and there is much analysis on the subject We do deserve more coverage given the style of football we play and the amount of goals we score in the process but to put another twist on it the amount of coverage on the hammers has probably heaped more pressure on them to succeed and big Sam gets loads of coverage which i think can become a negative thing so lets stay under the radar keep winning and they can all eat humble pie at the end

West Ham have so much media press coverage that it has put more pressure on the Club from the board down and their poor results are mainly due because of it.
Reading have had a great run and but now they are getting lots more coverage about sure promotion favorites, they will be affected by the pressure and thier results will change
I will call him Mr Adkins, because he has my up most respect. Is doing all the right things to keep the pressure down as low as possible and if we do whether the end of season pressure then so much will be down to him.

We do derserve credit, quite clearly we deserve credit. But I agree with them, I do think West Ham are throwing it away. Four draws in a row? Five draws in a row at home? That's a lot of points dropped, points which if they'd taken would see them sit above us. And there's nothing we could have done about it. It's their own fault that they're dropping points.

We deserve total credit for holding Reading off, as they could hardly have done any better in recent months and yet we're still above them. But yeah, West Ham are throwing it away. If they too were winning week in, week out, and yet were still above us, it would different. But they're not, and they've only got themselves to blame.

I sort of agree. Back during our Premiership days, we got hardly any credit for our successes which is probably because we were southern and I've noticed in footballing terms, the south is ignored/looked down upon most of the time (at least in my opinion). However, the south is the best part of the country, and there's a reason why there's a band called the Beautiful South!

Looking at it objectively we've had by far the most coverage of any championship team this year, and nearly all of it has been glowingly positive. Even during our mid-season slump people were still talking about how well we were doing.

I know we all want to see more of our team but we do get good coverage.
