He hasn't been involved in many games but what I've seen from him he can be a great player for us. Apart from the mistake at Stoke he hasn't done much wrong for a lad lacking experience and if it weren't for the form of Agger and Skrtel surely he would of got tested out a bit more. I think with the league being a write off now Coates should start a few games to grow in to the team with Agger out injured still, with the progression of Skrtel a Coates/Skrtel CB partnership could be the way forward for us in the future, of course a fully fit Agger would start for now, but surely Carragher will be moved to RB with the injuries of Johnson and Kelly, which will give Coates his chance to get a run of games, i've watched him in reserves a few times too and again, hasn't done much wrong there neither. His goal against QPR was pure class, if it was Rooney or Messi that scored it the media would be lapping it up, not bad for a CB eh? Side note- This is just a little distraction from all the 'is Kenny the right man for us' talk.
Not bad at all. But I do agree, if it was any other "top class" player it would be all over the papers about the wonder goal. It was an amazing goal.
I think Carra will be 4th choice CB next season if Coates keeps on his progression path. He's got promise for sure but he'll be second fiddle to Agger next season if the Dane stays fit.
Coares is very young and is not only in a new country, but a new continent. The playing style, physicality, culture and climate are all very different, and he is still settling in.
One of a bunch of young players. One of a bunch of young players. One of a bunch of young players! Keep thinking this and it makes me happy about the future.
He was good after his goal. Feel for him, if we had have won, his goal and performance would have been remembered. Remember him taking a mazy dribble up to the edge of the box against one of the championship sides in the cup? Can't remember which match in particular now.
