Its a massive game this weekend for the addicks as they travel to the Galpharm Stadium to take on Simon Grayson's Huddersfield. Charlton got back to winning ways on tuesday with a 3-0 over in form Yeovil. Danny N'Guessen got a goal on his debut on the same night Darel Russell scored the second goal in his loan spell. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored the over goal adding to the 20 league goals he's already scored this season. Huddersfield were also in action on tuesday night away to Chesterfield. Town won the game 2-0 with goals from Lee Novak and Jordan Rhodes.

These two last met on monday the 28th of November when Huddersfield Town travelled to the Valley to take on table toppers Charlton Athletic. Town had there 43 match unbeaten record on the line whilst Charlton had only lost once all season. The game was live on sky something that stopped a lot of people going to this game. The first goal of the game went to Yann Kermogant as he headed home from a Danny Green free kick. The lead was doubled just before half term courtesy of a debut goal from on loan Hogan Ephraim. 2-0 was the final score line and the end of the unbeaten run for Huddersfield Town. (Personally i believe the playoffs count as league games so this unbeaten run should never have continued into this season.

Huddersfield Town have had a good season so far and last season beaten playoff finalists currently sit 4th in the league with 68 points from 37 games. They are currently 5 points off of the automatic promotion places so if they are finally going to get out of this league it looks like the playoffs will be how. Although they are unbeaten in their last 5 games they have only taken 9 points out of a possibly 15 so their form just like ours isn't the greatest. They have quality throughout their squad with players such as Alex Smithies, Peter Clarke, Danny Ward and the potiential match winner Jordan Rhodes.

I am now going to talk say that I feel Lee Clark should still be the manager of Huddersfield Town. He lost 3 of his last 55 league matches as manager and was sacked with the club in the same position it is in now 4th. No disrespect to Simon Grayson who is a very good manager and is still unbeaten as Town boss but what more do you have to do to stay in a manager's job these days.

My team to play against Huddersfield Town -

Hamer

Solly Morrison Cort Wiggins

Wagstaff Pritchard Hollands N'Guessan

Wright-Phillips Kermogant

Subs
Sullivan
Taylor
Russell
Green
Hayes

Very tough game this weekend, however we always seem to grind out a performance against the "Big" teams in this league. However we are without Johnnie Jackson for this game if im right? Wel we all know what he is capable of in the big matches and he could be the difference between and win and a draw of course we won't lose ;) thats just unheard of.

My prediction is a 1-1 although when do i ever get one of them right!!

Nice one, Belvedere. THis game is even more massive for Udders who are really desperate for the points. I expect them to hit us with everything right from the start, but I think we can weather the storm and hopefully hit them on the break.

Good thread as usual, but I'll think you'll find that Russell has scored for us before, against Oldham I believe.

Could I urge all Addicks travelling up to Udders on the roads today to be extra careful - it's going to be a lovely day in Tewkes, but at the moment you can't see your hand in front of your face because the fog's so thick - already a bad crash on the M5.

Take care and arrive safe. <ok>

i`m going for a 2 1 win but true the game means more to them they have to win or kiss automatic goodbye we can lose and still walk the league.
We are better against the better teams if we win i`ll be ecstatic draw i`ll be happy lose and i`ll shrug me shoulder and move on..so good place to be to be honest.
I must say that I do have a dislike for huddersfield after last years 1 0 defeat at the valley their fans were mouthing off big time on the train so have wished them ill since that day.
I do love to bare a grudge me !

As promised, here's my match preview. Enjoy.

Addicks come to Town

Charlton travel to Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium on Saturday, looking to extend their record-breaking away record.

With 13 wins on the road under their belt, an effort unrivalled by any Addicks side in history, and a 20-goals-a-season striker for the first time in years (in the form of Bradley Wright-Phillips), this Charlton side is a force to be reckoned with for any side, even one containing Jordan Rhodes - a man with a £5m+ price tag on his forehead.

In terms of team news, Chris Powell is unlikely to rotate too heavily from the XI that won comfortably in midweek against Yeovil. Earlier in the week, Powell stated that he would not recall any loanees unless they were to make the match day squad, so the return of attacker Paul Hayes indicates that his successful spell at Wycombe Wanderers has earned him a few minutes on the pitch.

Incredibly, someone who could also have been lining up against The Terriers this weekend is the Brazil star Rivaldo. The world-cup winner's agents contacted Charlton in November, but it has emerged that the club declined the offer.

One man who won't feature is skipper Johnnie Jackson, who remains sidelined through injury. Following two exquisite match-winning free kicks against the Sheffield Clubs, Jackson was nominated for the recent League One Player of the Year Award. As expected, it was Huddersfield hotshot Jordan Rhodes who scooped the award, although the night was still a success for the south London club, as young fullback Jordan Cousins won the league's apprentice honour.

Rhodes has had a tremendous season, notching 32 league goals (including multiple hat-tricks amongst 4- and 5-goal hauls), earning his first international call-ups and gaining nationwide recognition for his goal-scoring exploits. He has formed a clinical partnership with fellow forward Lee Novak (the pair affectionately knows as 'Rhovak' by Town supporters), and they both got on the scoresheet in Tuesday's 2-0 win at Chesterfield.

Despite Huddersfield's goal-scoring prowess, their inability to keep out the opposition has hindered their promotion bid significantly. Former manager Lee Clark lost his job for erratic tactics and a penchant for draws, and since new boss Simon Grayson has taken charge, 4 of their 7 games have ended in stalemate, with just 3 victories on the board. Most notably, the Yorkshire club surrendered a 3-0 lead to leave with just a point against Bury in early March, coming in the same weekend that the Addicks snatched a last-gasp win at AFC Bournemouth. With other results going their way, this appeared to be the day when Chris Powell's side sealed their return to the Championship, even with a hefty amount of fixtures left to play.

In previous encounters, this has proved to be something of an historic tie. Back in November, the league leaders brought Huddersfield's much-publicised 43-game unbeaten league run to an end with a sterling 2-0 victory in front of the cameras. This ended the longest spell without defeat in Football League history, although it controversially failed to include their 3-0 Play-off Final defeat to Peterborough. However, an even more incredible win for the Addicks came all the way back in 1957, when they fought back from 5-1 down against the Terriers to emerge 7-6 victors. To this day, Town remain the only team to ever score six goals in English football and fail to secure 3 points.

Recent form suggests that neither side will have a particularly strong advantage over the other, and if the visitors can repeat their earlier trick of keeping Jordan Rhodes quiet, then they stand every chance of winning.

Likely line-ups and outcomes
Huddersfield Town:

Smithies; T Clarke, P Clarke, Morrison, Hunt; Ward, Kay, Arismendi, Roberts; Rhodes, Novak

Charlton Athletic:

Hamer; Solly, Cort, Morrison, Wiggins; Wagstaff, Hollands, Russell, N'Guessan; Hayes, Wright-Phillips

Prediction: Hudderfield 1 - 3 Charlton

Oh yes - Hayes back in straight away - Kermie unwell.

That's how to productively use a loan period.

Well done Leon Cort for retaining his place, although from a purely psychological point of view, I'd have brought Taylor back to start, just to remind Rhodes of his barren night at The Valley.

2-1 to us!

For some reason I can't see us losing today. That's not particularly good news as my predictions have been consistently wrong all season. Not sure I agree with the team selection. I wouldn't have signed Cook but now that he's here why isn't he playing? N'guessan isn't a winger and we have no striker on the bench. Shouldn't n'guessan have been sub? And why both Pritchard and Stephens on the bench? Don't need both. And why no Green? Oh well, good to see Hayes back.
