Is KENNY good enough to manage a great club like ours?

We all know January represents panic buying and poor deals. I think we all had the Carroll affair in the back of our minds from last year and we didn't want to make the same mistake again ...

  2. I think people make far too big a deal about Comolli's position at the club. How can it hurt to have someone else managing the scouting? Surely this provides Kenny with more time with his team? If someone wants to explaint o me how Comolli being there is detrimental then feel free but don't just say 'have any of the other top sides got a DOF' because that just doesn't wash.

The onus is on you to show what DC brings to our club thats beneficial,as none of the teams above us have a man in a similar role the evidence points to it being detrimental to LFC having DC putting his oar in about our transfers.

  4. So you couldn't answer...?

I have already said it provides Kenny with more time to work with the players, that is a benefit. Having Comolli there means we have a full time scouting manager. We have a link between manager and owners.

Edit: for me, having two people checking potential signings limits the chances of signing a flop (evidence obviously does not support this though)

    ^^ Agree

Kenny wouldn't take a player or sell a player unless he is happy. The idea that Comolli's position at the club could be stronger than Kenny's is just absurd. Any team successes should be credited to Kenny but then we cannot blame the team failures on to someone else. I see Comolli working to Kenny's agenda and not vice versa.

The problem with DC is that his role/effect is not visible from a fans perspective.

I think it's good to have a man like that working with the Board and with Kenny. DC has contacts all over Europe which means we have a better chance of attracting up and coming talent.

Kenny has been out of the game for a while and most of his contacts ( assumption) are local and around Britain and as we have seen so far, the talent isn't amazing.

Rafa is another example who has such a good reputation around Europe and players know of him and want to work with him, just like Mourinho. I think DC has the same effect ...

Thing is Rafa is a manager and DC isn't,in fact Rafa made it plain he didn't want anyone but himself in complete control of transfer business.

We have done ok without DC types in the past and theres no evidence that his role is benefiting LFC,unless you want to acclaim him as the reason we won the CC.

  9. Not sure it is fair to say that bit. Yes, he insisted on full control but that was more to do with Rick parry's incompetence rather than Rafa wanting to hold all the strings. Rafa said that he had worked in similar circumstances at Valencia and then agreed to similar terms in Italy with Inter.

What exactly does DC's role involve in your opinion?,imo we could function as a club without him and our manager could get suggestions for players from any number of people he knows in the game.

  12. Who says Kenny doesn't do that anyway? In today's game you need a scouting network, that network needs to be managed by someone,, most other clubs have a chief scout but ours as the DOF title. The difference is that Comolli negotiates transfers and contracts etc too.

Hire a proper scouting team, pay that extra bit of money if need be and it will save millions down the road. Arsenal do a great job with this, they have the right people in the right positions to find the talent that is out there.

Surely DC would be on the horn with Blanc about up and coming french players as well? Not one in yet which surpises me a bit to be honest.

  14. Not really. In the current setup, Rafa wouldn't have asked for those controls (IMO) and it is the current setup that we are discussing.

We've always had a scouting team Bluff,DC is supposedly the modern face of the game.

    Newest is not always best.

Would Rafa have came to LFC if DC(or someone in a similar position at the time)was waiting in the wings?

Then our scouting team is pish, hence the comment on paying the extra money for those top scouting names. DC can be head of it but there was to be a team of them with the same goal.

Side fact, I ****ing love scouting, I wish I could do it full-time, just need to find the right connect. Love coaching, but I really enjoy scouting and finding those next gems <ok>

He left Valencia and came to a club were he had greater power in the running of football matters.

He joined Inter because he was out of work.
