Well fair play regards the three signings,it is the last throw of the dice regards our championship status. Let's hope these guys can do the business. The board have stuck their hands in their pockets again well done. Will it be good enough time will tell. At least we ain't going down without a fight.
To be fair that's pretty much all you can get on loan now unless you agree to buy them at a later date which we can't really afford to do in our circumstances. Not expecting them to make much impact but hope I'm wrong.
If Del and the board had not reacted to the situation, how many would have come on here moaning about lack of activity, they have acted,we've signed 3 and recalled 1,it might be our last throw but at least we are in there fighting. Well done to all.
So long as it's an improvement than what we have then at least we're trying. Just hope it's not too late as they may need time to gel, something we don't have much of.
I would suggest it is a move which maybe should have happened a month or 2 ago, but maybe those players weren't available then. It is a masterful move at this late stage of a crucial season. If only Johnson had done something similar before the play-offs, even one goalscorer or midfielder could have made the difference.....oh if only..... Stop It (!) We shouldn't necessarily blame the manager if they dont all match up, but why did he wait so long to do it ? I have a good feeling about Ephraim, and relief about the 2 defenders. Ribiero-wise, I always did like the player, good on the eye and a fine footballer who is humble enough to improve much further
We all know you ain't happy with Del, you never wanted him, you are prepared to troll through history to prove you never wanted him blah blah. But to come up with a stupid comment like above is ****ing ludicrous! We have 1 recognised central defender available for Sat who is 36 years old so of course it's a improvement. If your concerned about players gelling, why would they have deadline so late in the season. They look at the colour of their shirt and pass to the players in the same colour. Get behind what we got instead of being negative please
If ribs can stay fit it will be like having another signing. I still feel bad that Joe Edwards as yet again has not been given any games especially given the lack of defence. I imagine that Carey will move in to the middle with our new centre defender and Ribs may start at right back. I guess the funny part is regardless of their viewed abilities by fans both McGivern and Spence are still on loan with us and are natural centre defenders as Spence was west hams reserve captain and played central, we loaned him last season and play him at right back. McGivern again played central defence for the Man City reserves but we brought him in and played him left back. But for whatever reason DM has fallen out of love with these two players so probably should speak to their parent clubs about sending them back. The wide player from QPR is an odd choice but we have struggled to find consistancy on the left hand side which I guess where is where he may start with Albert on the right and foster at right back if Ribs is not seen as the right option. I do hope though that Wood starts with Stead as I know fans on here love Pitman and hes probably has one of the hardest shots in the league but he looks well off the pace recently and we only started troubling Watford when Wood came on went central and pushed their defence. He did miss two sitters against Blackpool but he is one of the only strikers we have who is very good with his positioning skills and will find the space to get in to and create chances which is why before us he has a very good goal record over the last few seasons. I have said it every week and am still saying it, our strikers need to stay central and our midfielders need to get the ball into the box. Im getting fed up of our strikers going wide then when they go to cross the ball there is no one in the box which is where they should be. I dont know if that is our managers tactics or the players but it seems no other team does that. It means Stead is running his *** off all over their half but not getting any reward for his hard work.
I don't think I was being negative at all, it was just a statement for gods sake, a fairly obvious one at that! First of all, I don't have anything against Del, he may turn out to be a top manager and if so it would be great if it was with us. I really think he's been thrown in the deep end without experience at this level. The board appointed him and if we get relegated I will lay the blame 100% with them. Most players (apart from Messi) will need time to gel, getting used to formations, how other players play etc..it's normal. Making a point regarding a 36 year old is a bit stupid IMO, Paul Scolles, Keven Phillips, Ryan Giggs, I could go on, are still good players and older. I agree with BRR in that, we should have strengthened our squad in January to give us the best chance of staying up.....I did say at the time, the board should have given Del what ever he wanted then. I don't really know why you knocked "so long as it's an improvement" as many a player has come and gone here at Aston Gate over the last couple of years who have been, in a word, CRAP. Redordead. Sorry I can't just sit there and be a happy clapper, I say what I think, wether you think it's negative is up to you, but I pay my money the same as the next person and I have a right to voice my opinion.
L I'm not saying about the age thing just putting a point across. And yes you are entitled to an opinion as we all are. What I was getting at is even I at 45 would be an improvement on nothing! Which is what we had until he got 2 central defenders in. Teams don't loan players who are in their on teams so you will always get a player that does or has not featured this season so 9 out 10 is normally youth players, or players coming to the end of contracts. I just believe when we are in the **** it is better to be supportive rather than questioning all his moves. I will give you an example which came from my wife! What we as supporters saw on Tuesday was a 2-0 defeat. A manager would see upto Clamity's show we were the most likely to score, they then added another within 4 minutes another mistake, But after that they did not bother our goal again, so did we defend correctly or were they ****e?? Being passionate supporters we only see the final score, yes I thought we were dire but a manager would try and take positives out of the game. His job after that final whistle went was to try and get the players focussed on Boro, ours is to talk about history that we can't change. In the Jan sales, players would not want to sign as they would be wondering if we could survive so they could be playing league 1 (3) next season. We are in a mess, we can't go back and change that all we can do is be supportive and trust who ever is in charge. Come Christmas after a pre- season in charge if we still play like we do now I will be the first to say I was wrong so lets get rid of him! And promise that if we are still on this forum, I will write you a message saying that I was wrong and you were right
Off the point I know but how refreshing to have an adult discussion about our team,it's great to debate...
Positive we went 70 minutes without seeing the ball in the back of their net. We had more shots on target than the portsmouth game. We only let in 2 goals and not 3. Skuse should be back for Forest and Coventry Negatives we had a goal keeper who was showing off by trying to punch the ball rather than catching it. Our team has failed to score yet again When we got that freekick outside their area we had players fighting over the ball on who should take the freekick which was not very professional to watch. Fontain will miss at least 4 games which include Forest and Coventry. Positive a new captain with leadership qualities maybe?
Just to clear something up.. Have we signed Andre Bikey who's had a name change? If so, he may not be the most cultured defender but from memory is built like a brick ****house so just the kind of defender we've been missing! Regarding Ephraim i'd personally put him left wing and Foster right wing... Albert is in a really bad patch of form and not reliable tracking either. Ribeiro right back I really hope is works out for him here over the last 8 games, he'll be playing for his contract either here or elsewhere so will at least be completely committed.
andyyandyy I have to say, our results and performances under the captaincy of Fontaine have been deplorable. I would suggest maybe he is not doing the business as captain, and suggest Del passes it on to Pearson or Cisse (on the basis that the more accurate passes he gives the more its likely to rub off on the players)
Foster as captain for me, has no problem shouting orders around and is our Mr Versitile, still think he is going to get better
