Abramovich targets Newcastle striker Ba for a new-look ChelseaBy Sportsmail Reporter PUBLISHED: 23:17 GMT, 21 March 2012 | UPDATED: 23:17 GMT, 21 March 2012 Comments (38) Share Chelsea have added Newcastle striker Demba Ba to their list of potential summer targets. Owner Roman Abramovich wants a forward, winger, midfielder and right back. Hot property: Toon striker Ba is being tracked by Chelsea Porto striker Hulk and Napoli's Edinson Cavani are top of the list as Chelsea consider replacing Didier Drogba, 34, while Shakhtar Donetsk's Willian is wanted to replace Florent Malouda, 31. Newcastle, who also expect a Chelsea bid for Cheick Tiote, are hopeful they can keep Ba, 26, but accept they are vulnerable to substantial offers. Newcastle are showing interest in defender Virgil van Dijk. The 20-year-old centre back, from FC Groningen, is set for talks with Newcastle and his agent Henk Maarten Chin next month ahead of a possible summer move. The Holland Under 21 defender has also been watched by Blackburn. they have one cracking scout, but if they keep selling at the rate they have been, they are going to wake up to the fact, that they will be the best championship side ever
So when they get a new manager in he's not getting a say on who he wants brought in. Having said that take the job let roman get who he wants, cock it up like AVB and get a big pay off like the rest
Haha, Rog, I'm perfectly happy to do what we've been doing the last few years. Buy players, replace with cheaper. I've seen too many high profile players replaced with better players for a tenth of the price to worry about players getting sold.
No No No CHEEK your meant to take the humpover this thread, ****ing cant trust a mag to get it right, ****
OH. ERM. Rog you ****ing ****er. You're a total ****. Just cos Newcastle are better in every single aspect and Sunderland live in our shadow, no need for your obvious small club mentality.
In my honest opinion Ba should stay at Newcastle, they are the perfect fit and he has found his club and if he stays he will be a good player for years to come at Newcastle. Some players when they try to take the step up dont manage it look at Carroll at Liverpool and I think it would be the same with Ba if he went to Chelsea, no defence is going to fear Ba like they have with some of the strikers Chelsea have had since Abramovich went to Chelsea especially champions leagues teams. They should be looking at the likes of Llorente, Cavani, Levezzi, Pato not Ba
They reeled Krul and Sideshow Bob out just before the derby for signing new contracts my money is them going first unless Ba's mythical buy out clause is reached.
This article doesn't say much. Hulk and Cavani are top of the list so Ba is only third choice. Looks to me like they won't go for him unless they can't get one of the the other two.
I have to agree. Ba is one of the best strikers in the league in my opinion, but I think he's quite suited to our level if we manage to keep challenging around the 5th and 6th spots. He could probably do a fine job in one of the top 4 sides but he just doesn't have that 'star quality' to keep the fans and super-rich owners happy. Teams like Chelsea want to buy the latest strikers who are all the rage on the European stage. Players like Llorente, Cavani, Hulk fit that bill, but Ba doesn't.
Wish Bruce hadn't been such a twat and gone and signed him instead of letting you guys get him - saying "well he failed a medical somewhere else" - I honestly think Bruce would still be at Sunderland if he'd signed Ba as in the first 10 games of the season all we were lacking was the "Right Place Right Time" man (I know he's much more than that but that's why I think he's such a good player
I'm glad he didn't would take MoN than Bruce and Ba but I do know were you are coming from No one knows what happens behind the scenes maybe Bruce went for him and he didn't want to come or Bruce was after another quality striker who's he thought he had a good chance of getting but as it obviously never materialized and then it was to late to go for Ba, no one knows
