Was only my opinion pal. No need to get all defensive. Thought it was a fair comment myself and it wasn't intended as a slight on QPR.

Wow that was very long, self indulgent and boring...

Be amazed still if you boys stay up. I may be wrong ( I used to think SRP should be in the England squad so have been wrong in the past) but don't think I am this time

Fantastic work yet again mate, a great, well balanced report. I’m always appreciative when someone puts some thought into their work, I particularly appreciated the recurring themes in your report.

Do you think Hill was left out or injured as he wasn’t even on the bench? Young looked pretty solid to me (highlights only), and I believe that Onouha is our best centre back and looks a little awkward going forwards as right back, so what should be the back four for the next match? Personally I would have no qualms about playing Hill ahead of Ferdinand and would pick Traore (if fit) ahead of Taiwo.

Young - - Onouha - - Hill (Ferdinand) - - Traore (Taiwo)

I truly am beginning to think that the Internet connections to Scandanavia have some kind of virus whereby reality is altered.

Bizare indeed! But Norway was at the game I believe, and I watched it on the TV in Oslo so our there must be other reasons for thios shocking variance in opinion than the internett!<laugh>, I voted Derry as MOM anyway!

Cheers Roller.
It was a surprise to see Hill out of the squad. I presume he picked up an injury although I haven't heard that confirmed?
I was a little concerned that the back 4 had been changed as I believe a settled back 4 is vital. Can't really argue though as they all played really well, including Taiwo who came on for Traore. It was our formation in front of them and Barton's god awful display that put us under so much pressure. That and Liverpool's fantastic movement!!
We lined up with 1 less in midfield than them and that meant we chased shadows for 75mins. MH is sending out teams with no width which may work in keeping things tight, but it didn't seem to on Wed!! They then got tired (understandably) and the introduction of Mackie's intensity lifted us. The result was pure theatre mate....simply amazing to be in the ground as it unfolded! My 12 year old was jumping up and down on his seat after Cisse's goal and we were all engulfed in a group hug when the winner went in!! Unbelievable. I really enjoyed reading the "team news" thread when I got home, with people's comments as the drama unfolded......brilliant!!
As for Saturday? I'd keep the back 4 the same, with Taiwo in for Traore if he's still injured. Ferdinand had his best game for quite a while imo and looked good with Onouha.
I think MH will pick the same team on Saturday if they're all fit...including Barton. I wouldn't, but hey!!

I read somewhere that Clint had a back injury Wednesday. I'd have the same back 4 as you Roller if Clint is OK again. I still don't think Anton is playing well.

Again...it's amazing how we see things differently. I thought he was very good on Wed and used his pace and strength really well against Saurez.

Anton seemed statuesque to me - for instance for the 2nd Liverpool goal, when Downing dribbled past him and 2 others like they were lamposts.

Don't agree mate. Downing was cutting in onto his left foot and is very quick!! Nothing they could do as we were SO exposed. Ferdinand time and again out-muscled Suarez and shepherded him over the dead ball line using his pace (he is pretty quick!). Anyway...we all see it differently. Norway thought Derry had a bad first half FFS!!!

Col! You are probably right then, you do see particularly the performance of individual defenders better at games than on TV. I got the impression that we were being totally overun defensively pretty well every time Liverpool had a real go at us, which was pretty well constant the first 20 minutes or so and then sporadically until the last 10 / 15 minutes when they happily fell to bits! I saw many of our players doing well defensively at times, not so much Anton, but overall we still seem fragile at the back.

Woeful defending for Liverpool's second that is not acceptable and not to follow up a rebound basic stuff. You have also made a big error re Zamora. Now there is one battle that was eventually won and it was his run and link up play for the second that should tell you why is in the side.
I thought that Suarez was world class and has a unique understanding with Gerrard. Derry did his job in the first half and scored a very vital goal however I thought that Diakite was in front of him in terms of rating as he never gave up after a poor start. Having recorded watched the match three now I am even more convinced that Diakite could be a massive signing for us. isolating him as I something do in footage I like Diakite positional sense and his vision going forward he is raw and dynamic ... unpolished I agree but when he get this pace synced to his outstanding abilities very excited

Blimey...we're very nearly in agreement!! Fair enough re Zamora. I may have been a bit harsh on him, but I'm yet to be convinced. Agree about Diakite though....can't help but love his simple, almost child-like approach to playing. Could be a Ya Ya Torre in the making!

I think it was more down to us being out-numbered in midfield mate. They played 5 in there and passed through us at will...a main reason why I don't like 4-4-2 (I know it became 4-3-1-2 when Adel was released forward, before I get shouted at!!).

Taiwo should of got to that rebound before Downing did. If that had been Traore I'm sure he would of got there first. Traore's challenge on Adam just before half time was amazing. Adam had a ten yard start on him. I had a flashback to the Villa game as he set off to make the tackle. The man has amazing pace, I hope he returns soon.

Yeh Nines, a really good tackle! Traore played very well, but overall Taiwo did too. Both got in good crosses.

Another solid and fluent report Col. Thanks for that, you're becoming a true ledge on here mate.

At last! Reasons to be cheerful: 1. 2. 3. Derry, Cisse, Mackie!

Singing that to all our Chelsea lot at work yesterday. Believe me, I can be just as nauseating out there as I am on here when the opportunity arises!!

COYRsss!!!
