As I said, the power shift (which is a Spurs term) was indeed fully completed. They were better than us and had steadily closed the gap for 3 years. Not much of a debate there really. Being alarmist for so long proved to be spot on as we finally crumbled into crisis this year - which two of our most successful managers of all time discussed - Wenger and Graham. We're starting to pull out of it now, and I am hopeful next year will not be another disappointing season. The reality - which you fail to recognise consistently on this board - is that we hit a real low this year with our worst start in over 50 years and are now recovering. Through this time (and over the steady decline in the last 3-4 years) some discussed the issues, whilst others buried their heads in the sand. Calling out this crisis does not mean that one thinks there can never be any recovery
By the way - just to give you a dose of reality, we are a long long way off challenging. Check how far behind City and Utd we are. That is reality - hardly 'not far off'. No, It's irrefutable that we had a bad start, I recognised that as anyone would. I spoke about what was wrong and where I thought we could put it right. Which was about putting the small things right that were in our control, not making mistakes and concentrating - Not sacking the manager, the board and selling Walcott and the rest of our '****' players. Some of the suggestions put forward as solutions were simply ludicrous. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say you thought Sagna should be sold ??? Nobody 'buried their heads in the sand' ..... but some certainly lost theirs
WHile, jayram exagerrates ALOT He still holds a Point. But now we have turned a corner and are now the form team in England. Lets consolidate 3rd, give the Arab Mancs a little scare and use this as momentum for next sason. A Goetze, and Podolski this summer + RvP resigning while clearing out the deadwood and I think we will be title contenders next season
I would refer you to post 47 - we are nowhere near challenging. I have no clue as to how you conclude that we are 'not far off'. I can only conclude you are once again burying your head in the sand, or think that 3rd place and no trophies is a success. I personally don't rate Sagna as highly as some - though will admit he has done very well since coming back (apart from the Everton game where I thought he was poor).
You are right - add to the squad with real quality and get rid of the deadwood and we have more chance of competing properly.
Not that far off Jayram, means fine margins - like hitting the woodwork twice in the 0-0 at Bolton... i.e. The resulting difference either being you commending the team or spouting off on another rant. As for Sagna, he is one of the best RB in the Premier League and has twice been voted in the PFA team of the year. He has 'done very well since coming back' because he's always been a quality player
