Carl Fletcher has brought in namesake Steve Fletcher (39) from Bournemouth until the end of season,on the final loan day.

Steve has the record of 714 appearances for the Cherries and is 6ft 2in tall.

Only played late subbing rolls this season..........and has a small injury that means he is not available for the Northampton trip.

I've got 2 pairs of boxers and a pair of socks younger than him. Can't say he isn't experienced though. To be honest I cannot really see the point in this one but I'm up for being proved wrong. If he scores the winner in three more matches then I'll be a happy bunny.

I doubt there is any material in them Plym at that age, how do they still fit you Sensible!

The new striker may bang a few in!!! Not long ago the age of the team wasn't 39!! now we have a few oldies in!

They are all made of cow hide. Quick rub down with a damp cloth and the laundries done. Simples and good for the planet. I'm green in more ways than one.

Bottom of barrel scraped I guess 39, injured, bit part player hardly inspiring but beggars cant be choosers. More of a target man than prolific scorer but does give something else upfront which we are desperate for at the moment.

Sensible cowhide, boxers way tooooo much information

That is too much information joe..........that does possibly reveal why sensible is such a grumpy old sod all the time.......all that chafing brings tears to your eyes just to think about it.

As said above, seems more of a target man than a prolific scorer but in this league, strength counts for a lot - the goal we conceded on Saturday was a towering header wasn't it?

Provided it isn't an excuse for non-stop hoof-ball from the back, two wide men [of which we have a few] feeding a tall central striker with perhaps someone like MacDonald buzzing around his feet and Wotton trundling up to the edge of the box might be no bad thing.

Old fashioned maybe but you still have to stop it........

For once I agree with (not) Distant. Unlike some of our other 'target men', he does have a decent scoring record so what he lacks in youth and speed he might make up for in strength and low cunning.

I agree it isn't that bad a signing at face value. If he can do a Michael Evans job then nobody would be complaining.

The secret of the cow hide joe is to keep it damp.......................

I see sensible, so that makes all the difference keeping it wet! no more itching the Bollocks :emoticon-0106-cryin. As long as your not wetting your self!

Hope fully the new young striker can knock a few in when fit!

Gat will tell you if he is fit or not joe. She has quite a canny eye during the warm up for tight fitting shorts apparantly. Frequent rubbing down with a damp cloth does the job joe not incontinence.

What an injustice that was too.....

NDG quite right a target fed from the wings is hard to defend but 40yd balls from the back are bread and butter for a half tidy defense, just hope we dont resort to the later which can be very tempting when the pressure is on.

At least it is official now Sensible is a soppy pants

Definately an injustice.....the Gills should have got a team oscar that match.

If ever Steve Fletcher comes on for only five minutes in any match..... and helps to get a result .....he will be well worth it.

Well, in truth when you under severe pressure deep in your own half, a long ball out of defence up to a strong striker who can hold it until you can get out towards the half way line is not a bad escape measure either, as long as he does keep it somehow and it doesn't become the standard method of play.

The trouble with certain lanky strikers we had in the past is that the ball didn't stick and just came straight back....

Anyway, two good wingers and a powerful striker in the middle can be very exciting as well as effective, League 2 is no place to be a purist longing for the Barcelona style!

To be totally fair I didn't even expect us to sign anyone at all so it can't do any harm can it. Doubt we are paying a fortune for his services either.

Thanks mexijan, you say the nicest things..........
