Tomorrow is the last day that teams can bring in an emergency loan. So if Barmby wants a new player, than he will have to act quickly
I am massively disappointed we haven't signed a striker, that is all we're missing from being also rans to genuine contenders.
I've got to be honest - you must be pretty moronic to get to this stage of the season and still be saying "the chances are coming". If I were manager, that would suggest to me that we have a creative midfield that can put chances on a plate, but a dearth of forwards to put them away. Come on, Nicky, get it together
Tbh Im now starting to think that yes, sure we need a striker, and the management team know that. But, think of it like this: If we got a striker, and with the addition of ONE striker, made it to the playoffs, then won them, and went up, do you seriously think we'd last more than 1 season? Who seriously wants to spend an entire season watching us get humped? Anyone who thinks that's a good idea, is just ****ing mental. So I think, if we edge into the playoffs, and NOT win, that's a good result for this season. Then next season, I'd expect to see strikers brought in, and other positions too, an overall strengthening of the team, so that they are THEN ready to go up. I'm as impatient as anyone for wanting us to get back to the PL, but this time I want us there ready, I want sensible contracts, and players that want to play for us, and can play at that level, I want a PL team playing for us when we're up there.
Don't like jenkinson. I'd rather give a youth player a chance if rosenior gets injured/dropped. Is it Danny east?
He's looked out of his depth in the first team, the management don't think he's up to it, if we lose Rosenior, Dudgeon is likely to play right back.
Is that 'not up to it' as in first team cover at the moment, which I'd agree with. On the other hand do the management think he isn't good enough and never will be? It would be extremely harsh if it was the latter, everyone looked ****e against Crawley. A loan next season to a half decent league 2 side, maybe league 1 should give the club a better indication. Saying that if East had played the way Rosenior did on Tuesday I'd be saying get rid. Rosey was truly awful on Tuesday, I'm just hoping as one if our most consistent performers he isn't about to have a dip in form. With Koren out injured that'd just about finish off any play off aspirations we have. IMO.
I've not heard that he's been written off completely, just that they don't think he's currently up to the task.
HARSH.!!! imo,, this squad could play in the PL next season if we went up. NB would find it easier to sign up players as well. His priority though whichever league we are in is 2 goal scorers to add to what little we have. Adebola has gone and OJ will be in the summer. TC for starters has proven that he can play at PL level and others would also find it easier as you get more time on the ball in the PL. So lets hope that Nick and the boys do it.
You've got to take your chance if it comes your way, who's to say we will get promoted next season? I'd rather not get in the playoffs than be happy with losing in them
Yes but the whole idea of small clubs geting battered in the PL has been disproven enough times now. Even Blackpool who spent hardly a penny gave a good account of themselves and very nearly stayed up. Norwich and Swansea have spent well and look certain to survive now, Burnley were probably the worst in the last few years but they still had a good time and came down better off for it and we lasted a second year with the odds stacked against us. The fact is we have very prudent management now so the daft contracts would never happen again under this lot. We wouldn't have any financial problems on the back of it, if anything we'd make a profit like Blackpool and Burnley and come down in a better position. That's the worst case scenario, the best is that we stay up. On the other hand, the prospect of losing players in the summer and becoming an average team very quickly is much more likely. Footballers aren't patient and they don't want to stay at a club who are 'building fopr next year' every year, they'll want to go to the likes of Leicester if they seem more ambitious and wave more money. Our best chance is now, this season. We're in a great position and the football we play is better than nearly every team in this division. We should be doing everything we can to turn that into the results it deserves and to be honest, I'm pretty sure NB and the boys will be doing.
We have seen it in past seasons teams in and around the playoffs one season struggle to avoid relegation the next
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7617025/Afobe-agrees-Royals-loan This lad from Arsenal has just gone to Reading, he's six foot and scored 5 in 19 in his second loan spell with Huddersfield. I know he's a kid again, but he could have been another option to Fryatt or Mclean. Personally id have taken a punt.
