Thought it was all police dramas and stuff like Quantum Leap?

It's no better now anyway, 900 channels and still nothing on. There is literally only one channel which you can always rely on to have somethign decent on and that's Sky Sports News. Shame I can't get it on Freeview any more!

Seriously though telly is so crap now, there are about 500 different talent shows which each go on for months at a time, a similar number of shows about antiques, gardening, property for mega rich people, auctions, soaps, reality bollocks, etc. When there's no footy on you're lucky to find a decent panel show or something but most of the time there is absolutely knack all.

All I remember from the 80's is sitting through hundreds of gameshows with the likes of Barrymore, Forsyth etc, and endless Emmerdale Farm, this was when Emmerdale didnt have sexy people in it instead you got Seth and Amos- horrible memories!

When did Channel 4 swell the ranks then?

Must have been around '82 without googloiding it.

It wasn't a great time for TV I'll give you that , what with the lack of channels and generally **** programmes.

    Three that I used to like were ,and in no particular order;

Pipkins- Pig was my favourite closely followed by Hartley.

The secret diary of Adrian Mole- Bert was ace, as was Pandora. Does that make me a pest???

I know I'll get ragged for this one but eh oh- Dempsey and Makepeace.
I loved Glynis Barber even though there was an ever so slight bangers and mash going on.
    She was lovely.

Beats the bag of dog **** that is the Apprentice, which in fact I shall now refer to as the Appendage because whoever wins it is bound to be a massive cock.

    THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT !!!!!!!

It was 82 r.i.p. Whiteley, I suppose Countdown counts as a classic 80's show too, and Carol Vodafone or whatever her name is was young innocent and nice back then and not the monstrous mutton dressed as lamb abomination she is now.

    Pipkins was ace!!

There was some great tv in the 80's - The A Team, Knight Rider, Street Hawk, V and, erm, Manimal. Who remembers that!!

Never really watched The Apprentice, but everyone talks about it so I know what's going on vicariously. That's the best way I would have thought

Can't say I recall Manimal but with a name like that it sounds American.

What about some good old English stuff like The Professionals, Minder and The Sweeney.

    Proper geezers telly.

It was the 70's when the real classics were made, anyone remember this one? (it still reminds me of Chinese take-away's, we always had one on a Friday night)

    Oh dear.

I loved Monkey as a kid but after watching that I'm not so sure children should be exposed to that kind of TV.

Pigsy is a beast, he almost raped that poor she devil/ witch type thing.

I'm confused and saddened that one of childhood memories has now been ruined.

    Damn you OLM.

My mate Smiggy's mum looked like Sandy as well.
Fond memories of ripping the piss out of him about it and him storming off to tell his Dad.

You could call it bullying, I call it character building.

Reminds me of my first ever day at secondary school, everyone ripped into this ginger lad and had him on the verge of tears. On our second day, his dad came in and twatted one of the kids who'd started it <laugh>

ISTPLT should be aware that most 80s tv was just as terrible as today's

Apprentice is the ONLY TV show i make sure i watch or look up on iPlayer after work.
Like you say its watching the dynamics of these Ego stained mobile phone salesmen-a-likes covering their own arses at every chance.
Some parts of the show are engineered but i dont feel duped watching this in a way that made me stop liking Top Gear.

4 rooms and Dragons Den are about the only other bits of regular telly worth watching.

Terrible in a different way I guess. There weren't all these reality things and talent shows like now!

Re The Apprentice - I'm gonna go right ahead and isolate myself here, but I can't deny my feelings. I'm manning up and saying it as it is...

    Karen Brady...sexually excites me.

There it is. Right at you, for you all to deal with and process.

The reality of my life. I've mentioned it discreetly to friends in the past, only for them to scream laughter in my face, covering me in spit. I could tell they were balancing precariously on the line between the act of mocking, and actually developing a hatred for me.

Brady seems to rile a lot of people up (in the wrong way) but I have to say I like what I see.

Ball out truth there lads. That's courage for you that is!

I've taken one for the team. Who's next?? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Back in about '94 when I was a horny teenager I'd of had a go on her for sure. But back then I'd have bonked anything, given half the chance.

    Nothing changes...

She is looking a bit better this series, think she has lost some weight or is using different warpaint. Karen Brady isn't that bad, I remember a few years back somebody I know saying he fancied Monica Seles, google her, she had a face like a truffling pig

If you said you fancied the miserable four eyed bloke or big Al I'd be worried.

As it stands there's nowt wrong with Kazza, you fill your boots son.

I love watching the Apprentice, its funnier than some of the comedy programmes that are on the TV at the moment!

The people on it are chosen for comedy value, of course the thousands applying for the show probably miss the irony of that. Make no mistake they choose the prize plums for this show, including the Dowie lookalike, the mad Irish woman, the one that looks like a goofy Vincent Cassel, and the rest of them will be set-up for a fall sooner rather than later!
