Rumours on twitter this morning say that we've got a verbal agreement to sign them both in the summer. I thought the Javi Garcia signed a 6 year deal a couple of weeks ago, plus if were to sign them both we would have to pay over £60 million pounds for them. I haven't seen much of them to comment on.

Are the good enough for us ?

Would agree that the price tags are too much.

I would be very disappointed if we spent that kind of cash and not one of Gotze, Hazard, Muniain or Martinez were involved

    United 'agree' huge Gaitan deal

Manchester United have verbally agreed to sign Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan for £22million plus two young forward players in a swap deal.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims the club are ready to take Gaitan in the summer and send the Lisbon club a couple of their cast-offs with the names of Kiko Macheda, Bebe and Davide Petrucci thrown into the article.

It is claimed that United's Portuguese scout Toninho Cruz has sent back ten reports on the Argentine midfielder while Sir Alex Ferguson has also seen him in the flesh at least twice this season, in the two clashes between the clubs.

Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes brokered the deal alongside David Gill and the total value of the transfer is said to be worth the 45million euro release clause of the player.

Mendes helped United seal the £7.4million transfer of Bebe from Guimaraes two years ago and it would be no surprise to see him go as a makeweight in the deal, although he is currently on loan to Besiktas who have an option to sign him for £2million.

The report says that the deal will not be officially announced until the end of the season.

According to the daily telegraph, we've agreed a deal with Benfica for Nico Gaitan the deal will be around £20 million pounds, Fabio will be going out on loan there and Kiko Macheda will go there on a permanent basis

If true, could be good for 3 reasons:

    1. Getting Gaitan would help the midfield.
    2. Fabio would get first team football and assist his development.
    3. Get rid of that prat Macheda.

Should give us more options in our midfield. However the main problem remains that we still have got only one defensive midfielder in Carrick and that is a stretch.
