March Millwall (A) DRAW Hull (A) DRAW Doncaster (H) WIN Blackpool (A) DRAW ----- April Portsmouth (H) WIN Crystal Palace (A) WIN Reading (H) DRAW Peterborough (A) WIN Middlesborough (A) LOSS Coventry (H) WIN I thought that I was being pessimistic, but that's 19 points...good for 88 points, and I'll be stunned if that's not good enough.
I'm far too nervous to predict properly. I think it will be more than 3, but less than 30. BUT I think we will get promoted....!
LOL yep totally on the fence EXCEPT I think we'll do it. I'm so nervous, I sit opposite a Bournemouth fan at work and he even commented how I haven't mentioned football since we went top (and they went crap), but I just said, I hope I'll have plenty to talk about at the end of April....!
We are capable or beating all those teams. We should be aiming for 30 no less. Key words are aiming and capable here incase an imbecile decides to quote me like normal
Have always thought a minimum of 86 points would be needed for auto-promotion; still that is the case and its achievable. As NA would say "fate - it's in our hands"... nothing like a statement of the obvious!
I agree - and the bookies all have us favourites now too ! I can`t get the idea of celebrating on the park after the Coventry game with my son after the game out of my head.
Bristol City (A) LOSS Doncaster (A) LOSS Pompey (A) DRAW Bristol City (H) LOSS Ipswich (H) DRAW Its great to be optomistic but still need to keep some realism. This is an unpredictable league and Millwall away saturday is no given
Nigel will hate this, but I believe our fate will ultimately be decided at other teams games. I think some of the points predictions are a little too optimistic, but the other teams will drop lots of points as thye play each other. A lower points total of 83-85 could see us up.
I know what you are saying Channon, however I feel the Millwall game is the more slippy fixture out of the next two. Everyone said Middlesborough would be tough because they are solid but our movement destroyed them. I think Hull are on the slide a bit, so I am hoping we can win this, however 3/4 points from our next two games is what we need. 2 ppg.
Wow. On all the threads it's why is Adkins playing this player, why is he not playing this player, why is he playing this player in this position, cautious about saying we'll be promoted yet most of the forecasts (apart from mine and a couple of others) are all an unbeaten finish? A little confused here guys. Are we cautious or are we a dead cert? I certainly think that on paper we have the easier run in of the 3 teams at the top however I think that could be our Achilles heel. If we had the last 9 against the top 9 teams I would be much more certain of success at the end of the season!!!.
I can recognise typical Saints fan anxiety a mile off, nowadays. Have a quiet word with yourself and remember that this is not the Saints team you grew up with. It hasn't let you down yet, unlike all the others that did. It is fantastically well run and well organised, as far as a football club can be when it is often dependant on the whims of injuries to players. Unlike before there is no penny pinching, no getting along with insufficient resources, hoping for the best, and yet budgeting for failure. Remember also that there is no IF and BUT about this club anymore. It's WHEN. Against all the pundits who think we've already bagged it, it may not be this season. But enjoy it still because it will happen eventually.
Yes, its a difficult one. Could you imagine if it got to the stage where we would be saying 'I am not a glory hunter, honestly I have supported Saints before they were famous, I remember when they were playing in league one'.
Yes, exactly. I'm in a really bad position, because I stopped going to matches for various reasons, work commitments, money commitments elsewhere, etc... and I intend to come back to watching first hand in a few seasons. How am I to explain that one without people calling me Plastic..?
My problem, and that of all the others on this board who don't live in or near Southampton, would be exactly that! But who would believe us? Anyway, I agree with Fran, Man Utd are no role model for Saints, it's got to be Barcelona, whose style of play at their best often resembles ours.
