Not Saints I know but interested to get views. Has Mancini destroyed his credibility by playing Tevez last night? The fans on the whole seem to have welcomed him back but if I was a City supporter I think I'd be very worried about the managers grip on the dressingroom. Views
Tevez has been out of the game for a while and has now slunk back, so don't feel it reflects badly on Mancini.
I think Tevez was extremely harshly treated, his side of the story always struck me as far more credible than Mancini's and I think Mancini handled the situation extremely poorly. I don't imagine he'll be at city for much longer, but I don't think he's half as unprofessional as he's been made out to be.
Tevez changed his story more often than a politician! If he was really the one in the wrong, he'd not have swallowed a £10m loss on the issue that's for sure, especially when the PFA are so quick to intervene on his behalf. Mancini has possibly spoken a little too quickly on certain aspects of the story but overall, the club and Mancini have (rightly) showed who wears the trousers.
Yes Tevez is innocent!, it's all Mancini's fault...... Not! . Tevez is a spoilt little kid, like most footballers. Even if he didn't say he wouldn't come on, why swan off to Argentina for months on end?. It just shows you how sad footballers are, soon as they are told off etc they throw their toys out of the pram.
I agree he shouldn't have gone AWOL but at that point he'd already been fined more than is even allowed (it was later reduced), told he'd never play for the club again, and roundly condemned by every pundit going even though they had no idea what the real story was, so he probably felt he didn't have a lot to lose. I don't know about you but if I was working abroad away from my family and friends, unable to speak the language, and all that happened to me, over a simple misunderstanding, I'd probably want to go home as well.
You don't really believe tevez's excuse do you? Look at him overpaid and no morals manipulated by his nasty little agent he's gone from 2 rival clubs let alone his less than respectable entrance into the country! Mancini would gain nothing from demonising his best player, and is a respected figure in world football.
Both sides are in the wrong here. Tevez has made a lot of bad decisions in his career which in my opinion have prevented him from being the best striker in the world. He arguably shouldn't have moved from Boca to Corinthians, definitely shouldn't have moved to West Ham, and just when it seemed like he had made the perfect move to the club he had always supported and who would take care of him and treat him with respect (United), he ****ed it all up and moved to their rivals. If Tevez had any degree of integrity and loyalty, rather than just being fully committed to making as much money as possible, he would have stayed at Boca until United inevitably came knocking, and then moved there and remained at United for the rest of his career, fulfilling his potential and becoming a legend at Old Trafford. As for City, they need to learn to respect their players and build a team based on loyalty and good team spirit, or they will never come close to Fergie's United or Pep's Barca. This Tevez ordeal is a perfect example of what happens if you sign one the best players in the world and don't give him what he wants. Mancini has so much to learn from Ferguson.
What excuse, TTSF? I'm not saying he's totally innocent, but I do think Mancini shot his mouth off in the heat of the moment, probably without knowing all the facts, and has been trying to save face ever since. I think some of the critics here perhaps don't know the full story. I think most city fans do and they welcomed him back, says a lot for me.
Tevez absolutley disgusts me. Tevez had no right whatsoever to do what he did...A player that earns over £200,000 a week and refuses to play does not deserve to play professional football. He clearly refused Mancini´s orders and was sulking because he wasn´t playing much....and why wasn´t he playing much?? Well, because Mancini was sick of him treating the club like sh*t. One day he wanted to stay at City, the next day he wanted to go home because he was homesick and then he wanted to stay again. He even sent in a transfer request stating that he wanted Man City sell him so that he be with his family....but then he said that if his family come live with him in Manchester he will stay... It was so pathetic and disrespectful. If you say you want to go then you go, especially after sending in a transfer request and making it public. He thought he was bigger and better than everybody and didn´t realise that he was under contract and had to sort out his problems privately respecting the club...he also forgot that when someone is earning such ridiculous money that no one gives two sh*ts about your personal problems. ...And what he did after the incident in Munich was unforgivable. Mancini has lost the respect of many people allowing Tevez back....Tevez had only recently realised how much he missed playing football for City and decided to apologise. It was way too late and he should not be given a second chance.
Tevez had already warmed up. Mancini imo was being a nobhead telling him to warm up again unnecessarily just to annoy Tevez and show his authority over him off to others. Tevez took offence to being treated like a child and said he wasn't warming up. He refused to warm up, he'd already warmed up anyway. He didn't refuse to play. Mancini is a clown basically and handled the whole thing incredibly poorly. Anyone that doesn't take sympathy with Tevez obviously hated him to start with or simply does not understand the situation. He turned the game against Chelsea and when fully fit is the best attacking player in the world other than Ronaldo and Messi. As for the OP, do you not understand the concept of forgiveness? Or perhaps Mancini finally coming to terms with his own idiocy. This in no way means he doesn't have control
