Sunderland AFC owner and chairman Ellis Short has joined SAFC Foundation's board of trustees. Mr Short, who has been impressed by the Foundation's ground-breaking initiatives and work in the community, accepted an invitation from the charity's trustees to formally join its Board, assuming the role of SAFC representative, which is a requirement of the Foundation's constitution. Mr Short joins existing Trustees Sir Bob Murray CBE (Chair), Kate Adie OBE, Paul Collingwood MBE, Steve Cram MBE, Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, Lord Puttnam of Queensgate CBE, the Hon James Ramsbotham DL, Sir Tim Rice and Sir Peter Vardy DL. The charity's Royal Patron is Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex GCVO. Speaking about the appointment chairman of trustees Sir Bob Murray, CBE said: "We are delighted to be able to announce that Ellis has accepted our invitation to join the Foundation board of trustees. This move demonstrates his commitment to the region as well as the football club and his support will help us grow the Foundation and impact on the lives of many more people in Sunderland, South Tyneside, Durham and even further afield." Ellis Short, Sunderland AFC Chairman said: "SAFC Foundation is an inspiring organisation which makes a tangible difference to the lives of thousands of people. I have been hugely impressed with their ability to engage the local community, they are pioneers within their field and I am proud to be joining their esteemed board of trustees.
