How do I/you stop other people editing my posts. This is something I really object to and I feel is out of order and is open to abuse

On a discussion yesterday stovolos tiger changed something I put and then added a weird picture of a man doing the ****er sign. insults are fine but I dont agree with the edit. The post was regards the budget (which you replied to). He has left the original but when he has responded he has added stockbroker to a reply I made which changes the whole point I was making. I really dont care if people agree or disagree with anything I say or comment on but I want those opinions to be based on what I say not an edit from some idiot.

People can write anything they like in their own posts, including misquoting what has been said in others posts, it was only a joke, I wouldn't take it to heart.

Actually on a technical level there's a massive difference. Like OLM said, it was obviously a joke and I wouldn't take it too seriously.

I was going to do something similar but I suspect he won't find it funny and it may push him over the edge.

There's a huge difference. If someone mistakenly doesn't realise that it's been changed in the quote in order to make a joke it's quite easy to redirect them to the original post to clear up confusion. If the original post were edited you'd not be able to prove what you originally wrote, at least not until a mod came along to verify what you were saying (anywhere that you see "post last edited by..." at the end of posts we can see all the old versions of the post that were viewable at any time).
