Oli has scored 11 goals in 4 years.putting it mildly this is not prolific. Why does Hess keep playing him ???????.He is not div 2 standard. He had a half decent game against Barnet and suddenly hes a 1st team selection again.k4 and miller on the bench ???.K4 is proven and Miller has potential, young and keen. Please believe us Hess ,Oli is rubbish, play our quality or give the kids a go.

I think Miller should make the team ahead of him, but in Oli's defence he has been working hard lately, still not a fan of him and would not play him, would give him a place on the bench, but I would not keep him after this season.

Yeah I would not play him as I think Miller deserves that place and when he is back Tomlin would have to have that place, that would be when I am pissed off if Hessenthaler plays Oli over Tomlin/

That is not likely to happen. Tomlin is in a different class.
However in Oli's defence, he played a blinder against Barnet, earned us 3 points....which could prove to be vital.
Also.......I do not believe it is our place on these forums to effectively insult players. They are people who deserve respect. Kangaroo Gill, how would you like it if I came on here insulting you, calling you rubbish without knowing anything about you as a person?

Saying that he is past his prime or not up to the required standard carries the same message without unnecessary spite.

I've not really got anything to add to the discussion, I think Oli has been severely unlucky with injuries and it annoys me how people forget how good he was in our last promotion. Yes he's lost his way but no need to "attack" him in such a way.

But WINDYROG's post is possibly one of the best I've seen on this forum to date. It is not our place to insult whatsoever, and if I could say that in every negative thread I would.

At the end of the day, the players are better than every one of us aren't they? Unless we have some pro footballers in our midst that is.

We must allow individual opinion in this forum, lest it become deathly quiet. If you don't agree with an opinion - reply with your viewpoint.
We can all be critical of performances of individual players or the team as a whole. The level of criticism can vary depending on our own taste, - from my point of view I have tried not to be, what I call, nasty.
A big difference with criticism of sportsmen - and footballers in particular, is that most of us see them as in a position of privilege ( especially Premier League ) with fancy life styles - at the expense of our hard earned cash. Any resentment of the 'waste' of our money will be felt more greatly by the fans.
I am sure that all of us have been criticised at our place of work - and probably been accused of being "rubbish."( without it being a reflection on our personality ) - but generally most of us do not work on a public stage, where the stars probably 'receive' a fair amount of money for a few minutes work once or twice a week! ( yes, I know there's training etc but...) None of us like to be criticised & I am sure that kangaroo could have been a bit more diplomatic with his description of Oli's footballing attributes ( sadly, despite the Barnet game, he does appear to be a luxury ) - I would give kangaroo the benefit of any doubt by saying that he was not criticising Oli as a person, but as a footballer. Kangaroo and others should be encouraged to contribute to this site. The rest of us can, of course reply as we see fit - I have no problem with anyone having a contrary opinion to myself ( although I will refer you to my username  )- and Windyrog et al are entitled to our opinions of each other - but let's not stifle free speech.

    Things are hotting up!

Oli has never reproduced the kind of form he showed when Stimson took us up from League 2. The front three of Barcham, Jackson and Oli was arguably the best in the division. But since then he has struggled so damn much with injuries that he has gradually fallen off the pace and just can't keep his fitness up to a level.

I personally commend him for his effort, not only that but the fact that after being told he has no future at the club (more than likely putting an end to his football league career) he still continues to come out and play. Now I know what you're thinking, why would any footballer turn down the chance to play when called upon? But referring to current personal circumstances, I've been told that my job (and all of those around me for that matter) may not be here come this time next year, it does play on your mind and I'm pleased that he seems to have taken the right attitude.

    My opinion...

If I had to choose the team selection it would be in the following order, Tomlin, Kuffour, Keds, Miller, Oli, who have I missed. However, Tomlin is injured, Kuffour was injured, Miller needs support and strength from someone, so it only leaves Keds and Oli. Even having said that I would have put my first choice Tomlin on the left wing, although that is now not a problem as that can be covered by Obita until the end of the month.

Oli is good to protect Miller, in fairness although Oli was my last choice, recently he has been using his size to get stuck in. My two choices up front ideally would be a really big physical guy and then a quick pacey striker. Now who best fits that criteria, oh yeah, Bayo & Cody...Oops.

When Oli was named in the team Tuesday ahead of Kuffour, i immediately thought no please say it is not so! Now if i am thinking that as a fan is there not a chance Crawleys players also thought Yes the guy that ripped us to bits at our ground is sat on the bench!

I still like Dennis. His best spell for Gills was playing wide right under Stimson. That's the position he played throughout the promotion season and he was outstanding then. He really isn't a central striker at all. Give him an extended run on the right and get his confidence back after his run of injuries. He doesn't deserve all of this rubbish spouted about him - people have such short memories.
