I must be one of few people that think we played well last night... bar the last 10-15 mins.

I must say that the first goal wasnt a corner.

And two mistakes by skrtel which he would usally deal with.

The issues are that small, calm down.

I think we are 3 players away from a really good team.

P.S Fair play to downing, he has improved of late. Plus coates, what a goal fella.

I think the key word should be 3 good players. Doubtful it will happen with a certain someone at the helm.

It was another good performance spoilt by not being ruthless enough.

I agree in that we only need 2-3 top class players but we need to work on the mentality of the club. We don't have the winning mentality like Utd - the desire to go all out for the win.

Yes I agree that we need 3 top-class players but our transfers should suggest that it is easier said than done. £100 net spend for one top-class player in Suarez, and by top-class I mean a player who would walk into Man City's starting XI ie a title contending team. By that reckoning a good 300 million extra should set us right, which, coincidently, is what city have spent trying to get where they are now. Team "gelling" and "man management" only goes so far, at the end of the some of our players are just crap, pure and simple.

You need someone who can put the ball in the net, someone who will finish all of the chances you create. I'd go for Defoe <ok>

I think being so quiet in the January transfer window was strange in hind-sight. maybe it was a long term view that this team need the time to bed in, but since Carroll has spent much of that time on the bench, I don't see why buying another forward was not considered.

It'll all shake out in the summer.

I agree with the Doc to an extent.

We shouldn't have started with Adam. He hasn't earnt it. We shouldn't have taken Suarez off when we did. That's when the rot set in, even if he didn't have one of his best games. We should have been 4 up at half time, but once again, we wasted chances and hit the woodwork (again).

We should have won, but didn't - AGAIN.

I agree that it was not a corner for the first goal. I have to say that I'm still gobsmacked <doh>

We did play well for most of the match, but a match is 90 mins and we capitulated in the last ten minutes, which has ruined the performance and aeverything that had been generated of of the back of two victories.

Carroll, gerrard and Suarez was clearly working and should have been the tactic employed again i think. Saying that we did play well, we just didnt score enough and then gave away 3 crazy goals at the end......

Was so dissappointed last night, but saying that I love LFC and cannot wait for the next game........Hate all this knee jerking and get rid of the manager talk......With no champions league, who exactly are we supposed to bring in that is going to change our fortunes just like that.

I think kenny has got us playing attractive football and with a few players we should be able to get the rewards for the football we play

Are you for real? I'm sure Stoke's goal at the weekend wasn't a corner either!

I think we bottled it in January, the whole Carroll fee and the fact he hasnt been very good has left a bad taste. Could also be that the management buried their heads in the sand, thinking the players are good enough and just need time (which if true is just BS). Or could be that the owners are already taking a look at the buying policy and who's doing the buying, as our transfers have been hit and miss so far.

Whatever the reason, as its been pointed out, in hind-sight showed it might have been a big mistake

In all fairness it wasn't even hindsight that told us not signing anyone in Jan would be an error, even in Jan we knew it was a stupid decision to stick with what we had

  13. I agree that, apart from the last fifteen minutes, we played well last night. I actually saw a comment by a QPR fan earlier where the poster had said we weren't the best team to visit them this season, I think that shows how well we played. However, a game of football lasts for ninety minutes and playing well for seventy-five and **** for the rest is not good enough.

I think we are one good player short of being a good team but two or three short of having a quality squad.

I also agree that Downing has been in better form in the last few games, I can actually tolerate him starting games at the minute. Shame I can't say the same for Charlie Adam but I think he is being harshly treated by the fans when it comes to last nights game.

  15. And we wonder why we get stick from opposition fans <doh>

If Suarez is that good, why, as a forward, has he only got one more goal than Vermalean/Skrtel, both centre backs...?

I do not question his ability, he has bags of skill and is able to dribble out of any corner or tricky situation. But is that enough? His passing is not great and his shooting is awful. Can't fault his work rate though.

IMO, and ignoring all off pitch stuff, he would be fighting for a place on the bench at Man City. I would select Tevez and Aguero to start leaving Suarez to battle it out with Dzeko and Balotelli for a place on the bench! He would have to fight it out with Nasri, Silva, Johnson and Milner for a position either behind the front man or out wide too.

I agree with you on your Suarez assessment, I don't think we'll see the best of him for another season or two but his goal scoring record this season hasn't done him justice.

I just get the impression he doesn't have much faith in Carroll, when ever Suarez picks up the ball in the final third he always looks to run at the back four rather than look for him, well to be fair it's not like Carroll makes any intelligent runs.

He still hasn't shown his goal scoring form for us that he had at Ajax or even for Uruguay, but I'm pretty show he'll be an even bigger threat in the future.

I feel for Suarez because at times, it looks as if he's all alone up front. And I agree - he doesn't have the confidence in Carroll at all. Put Suarez with Maxi and Kuyt and there is a natural connection and confidence - perhaps due to the language or maybe they have better movement and intelligence.

I only look at last season when Suarez scored a few goals and looked very natural in front of goal. This season, he has been very wasteful but I think he does a lot to get into the scoring position i.e wriggling his way through defenders and is probably knackered by the end of it.

Suarez has to do everything himself, It's hard to be effective and clinical when you have to be both playmaker and finisher. He has such dross to work with, Adam hardly supplies killer balls, Carroll doesn't run on to any of Suarez's lay offs etc and Downing can't cross for ****e. It's so depressing because Suarez is the level the rest of our team should be at. Reminds me of Torres early last year.

  19. I agree he has a lot to do, my only issue with your last comment was:

Suarez simply is not that good. Not yet anyway, only time will tell if he gets to a level that high.

Fair enough, he creates his own chances but what about when someone plays him in and he misses the target or hits it straight at the keeper? That is not a great finisher, never mind a top or wolrd class player!

Is that a deep philosphical question, or are you having a go? That corner should have been a dead ball. End of.
