I would be happier if the change would come at the earliest opportunity, though without putting Arsene's nose out of joint. While I do appreciate what Arsene has done, it remains that the last 7 years has yielded nothing and while it may not all be his doing I feel that to further his tenure beyond the conclusion of his contract simply means more of the same. If part of the reason of our lack of success is down to the lack of vision of the board, then Arsene who has bought into the vision or rather lack of it of this board, is unlikely to deliver what this club needs.
While I wouldn't mind Hiddink - He is too old and we wouldn't want a manager for 2-3 years we need someone to come in for much longer and build somethinf - so much rather have Moyes, Guardiola, Mourinho (yes him), Klopp and others. A Manager in his 40's (at worst 50/51/52) so the potential to manage for 10 odd years
Well considering what he is supposedly paid on the basis of results in recent seasons, it's debatable and I'm sorry to say this, if Arsene represents value for money. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...er&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=arsenal If you factor in what he has to work with, meaning the budget with which to go shopping for players, then perhaps few could have done as well as him. That though is again open to argument especially since February of last year when he has appeared unable to motivate the team nor at the start of this season when he left it too late to have a side that was ready to hit the ground running. Instead we largely bit the dust in our first 7 games and again in January this year. Had we won three of the games we should have done in January and early February, beaten Wolves in December and Blackburn earlier in the season, then we would have had the 14 points to be in the thick of the battle for the EPL. Water under the bridge perhaps but lost opportunities they definitely are. Guus Hiddink is paid less at Anzhi and Pep only slightly more at Barca yet both undoubtedly have the Midas touch when it comes to managing football teams. And the one who is the most successful in the EPL draws a lower salary than Arsene. Perhaps it's the London waiting allowance. Thus I'll take a number of names ahead of Arsene's, something which really doesn't give me much pleasure since I would have preferred him to go on a high. Anything short of the EPL is precisely that - coming up short. I'm not sure of Gus Poyet though. No disrespect to the man since I thought he was a good assistant in N16 or whatever that postcode is but we need someone who can turn our fortunes around from the word go.
Let's hope they can turn our fortunes around in the right direction. I know a lot of fans seem to think that there is only one direction our fortunes can go.
I'll go along with that direction too Mr Toledo. I'm pretty sure all of us want us to head in only one way and that way is up
Only one manager i think would improve our current team as it is, and that is Guardiola. He would bring in fresh new ideas and have the ability to work with our current players and make them better. Also he wouldn't change our exciting attacking play and infact tweak it to make it better. Other than him, i'd keep Wenger....
Ha ha ha. Wenger should be crazy to even consider leaving now. He is here to stay for at least another 4 years. The team is finally clicked and looks exciting, the young players develop pretty well, they finally have the right balance. Arsenal is the most in-form team in the EPL. Arsene has proved that the "Wenger out brigade" knows sweet FA about football. And now he leaves? No way. nother 4 yaers guys. At least.
I wouldn't go as far as the team "clicking" but they seem to be playing well at the moment. The team still has a way to go before they start challenging for the league. Next season will be an interesting start....
I've said Jurgen Klopp all along, and i'm sticking with it. Shame Abramovich seems to be paying attention to him now.
I'm not sure about Hiddink or Guardiola. What did Hiddink do that was so great at Chelsea ??? what has he done that makes him so great ? He won the European Cup back in the 80s .. but then what ?? His league achievements are all with PSV. Guardiola inherited the best team in the world, what has he done that is so amazing ? As long as Wenger fixes our problems this summer I'm happy for him to remain boss. As for MON and the rest of the British managers, no thanks.
After Sunderland's recent collapse, i think people wanting MoN is strange. He's an average manager, and now the results are showing it.
Was this a serious thread.??? I respect MON, british managers do deserve a chance, but not MON, he could go abroad but he didnt want to! Do you reckon he could scout quality players across europe?? i doubt this, he'd do a dalgish and play archaic football. The successor would need to be a forward thinking manager not one who is still stuck in the past.
I have to be honest, i don't care if British managers deserve a chance or not. I couldn't care where the next manager is from or whether he deserves anything. He just needs to be as successful as Wenger has been on average. Anything better than that is a bonus.
With financial fair play regulations coming in we need to keep Wenger more than ever. Although it all depends on how effective the regulations will be. Stadium sponsorship deals worth hundreds of millions of pounds, paid for by companies part-owned by the board members at the club just makes a mockery of it. Our transition to a 60,000 seater stadium puts us in an excellent position too, and I don't think any other manager could have kept us a top-4 club during that expensive transition either.
