Some bright spark has decided that Saturday would be a good day to close the M18 southbound http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2686992,00.html?
1800 approx apparantly. M18 is not so bad. Just carry on the M62 take the A1 southbound to the M18. Better and quicker than trolling through smaller roads.
I know you could.....it was a suggestion to those of us who are somewhat 'geographically challenged'.
This is why going by train is great...no roadworks to contend with though knowing my luck saying that will mean something will break down near sheffield causing delays
That's the way I'll be going. About 20 miles shorter than m18 route. When going that way to Peterboro saw the Allam's roller on way to match.
But the whole point is that the M18 is closed? I'm no expert, but wouldn't the best alternative be to just go M62 and then M1? That's essentially the same route as if you used the M18 but you don't get to cut that corner off, which is what the M18 lets you do.
It was the same a couple of weeks ago, it is a fairly quick diversion through Donny and probably took no more than 10mins, obviously will be a bit busier due to football traffic but not a disaster.
You should try driving back to where I live on a night match. Well over 30 miles of coneslast night and two road closures
DO NOT TAKE THIS ROUTE!!! Use the way Tickler said its only 15 minutes longer than the original route. I travel to every home game from Leicester, when we beat Chelsea 1-0 the m1 was closed for miles so we took that route and it took over an hour longer not to mention the extra wedge it cost in fuel and the toll for the bridge. Those roads are bloody horrible absolutely horrendous with traffic specially lorries which you can't get by an besides you enter Leicester from a ****ty side to get to the stadium. Just do m62/a1/m1 trust me, you're bloody mental if you go over the bridge!!
I would normally agree, but you'll be pleased to learn that if you are travelling from Hull there are engineering works up to Selby so rail replacement buses are in operation however it's only up to Brough so not to bad on this occasion as long as you are going via Sheffield
