Tickler I wouldn't want Leicester winning a draw would be perfect tonight, if they win they get scarily close to us and that's another team competing for the playoffs with quality in their side.
Alot of City fans have said Southampton deserved it. Maybe you should read some of the threads more carefully.
Have we played a must Win game so far this season ? I think not. The last Must win game i remember was Burnley home PL and lost 1 - 4,, almost 2 years ago.
I fancy a draw in the Blackpool Festa game but sadly i can see Cardiif winning there home game with Coventry. But its still very close for most of the teams. Last nights results asked more questions than provided answers. Whilst the Forest result was Superb what happened @ Pompey ? 4-1 winning with a shadow team ? Have Birmingham finally blown there gasket i ask ?
Fryatt cant hold the ball up cos he gets **** all help from the referee with players dragging him over
I'm far from a doom and gloomer , I prefer to call it as I see it though , to pretend we were unlucky or something is ridiculous , we have a problem scoring goals , we all know that Southampton will finish top 2 and we still have a good chance for the play-offs , no doom and gloom there but beaten by a better team
In a situation like that you may as well give away a penalty instead and get a 2nd chance at saving it
Thats what he was trying to do. If he had missed it Lambert was there for a tap in. Own goals happen and that is not why we lost the game.
Just out of interest, what's your obsession with us? Can't you go talk to some Newcastle fans or someone else who might give a ****? We just aren't clever enough. You look at the way some players go down they give the ref no choice but make the decision for him. Koren tried to go down in their corner when he had no where to go and he didn't even convince me (and I'm heavily biased at matches!). We're just a nice little well-behaved team but nice guys don't win games. We need to be more streetwise and then maybe players like McLean and Fryatt will be allowed to make a run without being thrown down all the time. The frustrating thing is we weren't beaten by a better team. We had more of the ball, twice as many shots, more on target, less fouls and 8 corners to their 0. That is complete dominance throughout the match. They went in our box 3 times all game and if it wasn't for a dodgy bobble all 3 would have been goals. We got the ball in their box 10-15 times and each time we managed to turn it into nothing. If Saints had come and blown us away with good football it wouldn't be so annoying but they did nothing special to get the win, and it's the exact same story as when we played West Ham. It's ridiculous how bad we are at turning god positions into goals. For the record I didn't think Hobbs could do much about the goal, Fox put a good ball in and Lambert would have scored if he didn't get something on it. The real crime is that we got in the same position in their half enough times and most of the time the simple ball across went horribly wrong and the one time it went well (King to Brady) it was skied miles over in the exact position from which Hobbs couldn't avoid the goal!
We've played some very good football this season, but to suggest we were the better team last night is nonsense, they beat us with a fair amount of ease last night. They looked like they might score every time they went forward, we didn't look like we'd have scored if we'd played for another two hours.
Were we at the same game? As I've said earlier, every stat shows in our favour; we had twice as many shots and 8 corners to 0. That isn't them beating us with a fair amount of ease, that's their attacking quality winning them a game without even playing particularly well while our lack of attacking quality costs us another game...
I don't care what the stats say, we were outclassed all over the pitch and I don't think they even got out of first gear.
We were outclassed in terms of attack, but the very fact we had so much possession, corners, etc. shows we won the midfield battle for the majority of the game. I'd agree they perhaps weren't at their best, but couldn't that be because we stopped them from being? The big difference between the teams was their quality in front of (and around) the goal. Apart from the massive height advantage they had I really couldn't say they did anything else better than us.
