Manchester United fan here. As you are aware, cross board threads have been removed so if you want to pop over to the United vs Fulham match thread to talk about the upcoming game then that would be good. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/131929-Manchester-United-vs-Fulham Cheers.
I fear the only yo-yo there is going to be at this game will be the ball travelling back and forth from the halfway line to our penalty area!
Mr. Bidley, the eternal optimist, is predicting a turn up for the books this weekend as Fulham place a huge dent in man Utd's title hopes. Clean sheet for Schwarzy as Dempsey helps himself to yet another hat-trick.
No, it'll be Pog getting another hat-trick! I'm not expecting us to put a dent in Utd's title hopes, but it's far from impossible. Regardless of how badly we played against Swansea, it's fair to say that more often than not we will lose to Man Utd and other clubs of similar stature. From time to time, and in a not at all predictable manner, we are capable of pulling off a shock. Just because their last result was great and ours was awful doesn't make it any more or less likely that we might get something. As I've frequently posted in these situations, our season will not be defined by results against the title-chasers. Anything we get from this game is an unexpected bonus, so let's relax and (hopefully) enjoy our boys putting up a good fight and maybe even having something to show from it. Or, we could work ourselves up into a lather getting upset about the fact (which isn't a fact, it's a possibility) that we're going to get pasted. In summary, chill out, Bandy.
Bandit, relax man! What will be will be. Unpredictability, frustrating, joyous, amazing are all words that describe a Fulham season. Roll with it matey. I'm sure that the team will want to play better than they did against Swansea.
Hahahaha this was all meant in good humour my comrades, rest assured I will not be reaching for the razor blades should we see a cricket score at Old Trafford. These are the games to enjoy the most as no sort of positive result is expected, meaning that when it does happen once in a while you treasure it all the more, the 3-1 win at Old Trafford being such a result. Does anyone remember Inamoto's goal celebration? Beating Utd at Old Trafford cannot be THIS EASY?
Reminds me of a story told by Simon Morgan (yup, the very same) from his days at Leicester. It went like this - Leicester were playing Liverpool and confidence in the dressing room was not high. Bryan Hamilton, their manager at the time, walked in half an hour before kick off with the Liverpool team sheet (containg names like Hansen, Lawrenson, Molby, Johnston, Rush and Dalglish) and, in an attempt to raise morale, boldly pronounced "Lads, I can't see where there goals are going to come from". The dressing room collapsed in fits of laughter. Unfortunately it didn't work - they were hammered 4 nil.
I think Bandit, Captain etc may be a bit OTT. Let's just settle for one goal each for Pog & Demps enough for 3 points (or maybe 1). None of us expect a darn thing on Monday night, so who knows with such a Fulhamish team? It will certainly be better than how we played against Swansea, especially with Murphy back. It could be worse - At least its not a trip to Goodison! C O Y W
Not expecting much, myself. What I can expect is that if Pog scores and we win or draw that we won't hear from you for another week!
So, the Oracle himself, known to us mere mortals as Lawro, has predicted a trouncing. Why does that make me more confident?
