Are we pretty much up? 12 Points from now = 87 points (Plus our goal difference = 88 points pretty much) That would also include a win against Reading meaning at best they could only get 7 wins/8 = 21 points = 91 points total West Ham also have Reading to play which also would mean a loss of points either way (West Ham's max points being 92) If then, West Ham we're to beat Reading they would then have a maximum of 88 points if they win EVERY other game left in the season, with their run in i find that very unlikely for them not to drop a single point. Looking at it the other way if Reading beat West Ham = West Ham's new maximum points is 89. Meaning they would have to win 7 and draw 1 of their games to reach the 88 point target. Regarding a draw - Reading's new max = 89 = They would still have to WIN every other game because a draw would likely be no good with the GD - West Ham new max = 90 meaning similarly to them losing they would still need 7 wins and 1 draw from their final games. Maybe a bit confusing as i've basically brainstormed this down but how i see it is that for us to win every game at home we would, bar Reading + West Ham both picking up a win % of around 80-100 of their final games be promoted. Sounds pretty good?

Great post! Not allowing myself to get too caried away things can still go wrong but the belief is swelling after every game.
We are good enough to beat anyone in the league, home or away, I really think that we will win 6 or more of the remaining games.
Based on recent results, and to modify a much expressed truth, if we win our home games and them win many of our away games we should be alright.
Jos reckons we need to win 21 more points...think that might be a bit high if the followers lose points. Like the bit in his interview where he tells the fans not to get nervous and to drive home safely. Lovely bloke,
I'm not allowing myself to think how many points we need, just taking it all in! I cannot wait for this run-in!
Well there is no doubt that winning all our home games will help but may not be enough though. The reality of our situation is we have averaged 1.97 points per game, Reading 1.84, and WH 1.78. Leaving Saints on 91, Reading on 85 and W.Ham on 84. Which basically means 5 wins one draw 2 losses or combinations, there abouts, for our promotion. Based on the last 10 games this would be the line up at the end. Saints 94 points, Reading 90 points West Ham 82. My prediction for the final points tally Saints 92......Reading 89.....West Ham 85. There cannot be any complacency now. This is where Every player without exception will need our encouragement. If they are having a bad day encourage them Do Not get on their backs. Lets see our boys through this!!
Thankyou although we should really be doing this the whole time no matter the situation. I just hope if it gets tricky against donny I dont hear a single negative groan around SMS. There will be a few dodgy results between here and the end of the season that doesnt mean we wont go up!
Anything can happen, so trying to speculate the outcome is next to impossible. As 'Our Nige' would say we'll take it one game at a time. Next game Doncaster.
Oh come on mate. Your better than Reading and West Ham and winning games that those 2 are slipping up in. Win your 4 remaining home games and that should confirm promotion. Win 1/2 more away games and thats the title. I have you nailed on for top spot after last nights 2-0 win @ Hull and to be fair you shall deserve it. Millwall and Hull away 2 games that could have been lost were won. Thats what title winning sides do. Beleave it your almost UP.!! Good Luck and All the best. Hope we can make one of the other 2 spots come May 2012.
I hope the guy near me doesn't turn up. He always has a go about Guly. If the Guly boo boys are there then please keep it to yourself. Nothing worse for a player to be singled out especially at this stage of a season. Get behind everyone! NA knows best no matter, we think we could do better? I doubt it!
This is the sort of post that would have come up when we had a dominant home record and a worse than average away record. I now consider us to be as strong away from home with a close to even chance of us securing victories away as much as at home.
I think we need to be aiming for 90 points, that will secure automatic promotion and I'm fairly sure it will be enough to take the title.
The stats show a minimum of 86 should be enough - been saying this all season (not that anybody listens to anybody else on this site). Assuming 3 home wins and 1 home draw; you are looking for 1 away win to tip us over that target. All should be achievable - what I am hoping for however is being able to go to the Coventry game with promotion is the bag. I don't want to have the tension I felt through that match like when we had to beat Sheffield United to stay up three years ago. Never will I forget that day... the euphoria afterwards was fantastic - but the 3 hours before the final whistle I never want again in my life... I had a VIP ticket that day too it did nothing for my nerves at all (well the booze helped a bit)!!
