I don't often post but I thought I'd see what my fellow Mackems think.

Is it just me or is he not as good as you all think.

He's got a great shot don't get me wrong but apart from that I honestly don't see what he gives us.

I'd like to know everyone elses opinion on him.

    Hit and miss..

On a good day he's very good, just wish he'd have more of them....

But out of the current squad, i'd still play him...............

I would agree that he is hit or miss...

However I would play Cattermole and Vaughan in the middle. For me they both compliment each other.

I think he's a capable Premier League player and not unduly worried about him but think like one or 2 others he simply needs a rest on occasions. I would include Larsson and Mclean in this category also.

Got a great engine and shot, but has terrible vision and runs with the ball too much. The main thing he gives is support, he's always running forward to give another option. Squad player imo, but that won't satisfy him, I imagine he'll be off in the summer tbh; as long as we get a similar player to him he won't be greatly missed.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

I'd add that he does have very good close control, if his passing was quicker and better, he'd be top class.

He does have a tendency to hold the ball too long, or run when a simple pass is on.

I like him, I think he works really hard and worries defender because of his late runs into the box. He is something different, Catts, Colback, Meyler and Vaughan, are quite similar with Vaughan being the closest to Gardner. I think he could be the next Frank Lampard / Paul Scoles if he gets the right coaching and improves. There is room for improvement for sure but I think he is a decent asset.

One to keep and no harm him Vaughan and Colback battling it out for the spot next to Catts.

Good, solid, mid table Prem player. Works better with Catts alongside him. 6.5 out of 10 so far which is not bad for his first season here.

Thought we were talking about Gardner not Tiote?

Gardner was 10x better than Vaughan last night!

Gardner has potential. Much better than Vaughan imo who never seems to have a good game when I watch you play. You could play him next to Cattermole and they could form a good CM partnership. Colback could be his stand in (he looks talented too!)

all of this + Vaughan's comments. I like the lad but he only really works when playing with Catts......not Jack or DV
