    Good thread.

I've sometimes gone on about things getting a bit fraught when I've found everyone to be getting a bit tetchy but think I may have been a bit pretentious.

A forum is a forum and it's also a chance to vent frustrations, complain at players, managers, tactics, new logos and anything else. This is the best place to do so.

Is there actually any genuine point in maintaining artificial optimism on a forum? If you are naturally up then great but a string of losses will always draw out the negatives - the great desire to say how we can do it better ourselves.

Booing the team would get a more condemning response from me but negative posts shouldn't (barring lively debate).

Incidentally, it is obvious that DT/FJ is not just dangling a line and hoping for a bite - there's obviously a lot of personal pain that has caused his views (to which he is more than entitled and as such I wouldn't ask him to elaborate). Chastising him en masse is actually giving credence to his views about media-hyped, sensationalist band-wagons. Bygones seems like the best approach and our normal respect for well considered opinions.

Vive not606! Long live the Rs.

Matt, great post, thanks. The strength of this forum is its equality and anonymity - all our voices have the same volume whatever we are saying. All you need to enjoy is the ability to take as much as you give, a thick skin, the ability to read and respond, and a sense of humor. I learned not to post in anger a few months ago, and take a rest from this place occasionally, but always come back.
The stupid/ill informed comments we sometimes see are irritating as are the repetitive arguments and inter poster squabbles, but these are easy to ignore. Last few days some really interesting and thought provoking threads, only shame is I haven't had the time to join in. The volume of stuff from Dave/Frank at the moment is a little overwhelming, but at least it's always consistent, very funny or uncompromisingly provocative and very intelligent. In case he reads this, he is also clearly a sociopathic egomaniac with a God delusion.
Re the optimism, people support in different ways. For me it really isn't over til it's over and I get more pleasure from following the Rs with this attitude. In almost every thing else (except hopes for my family), I take a pretty skeptical/rational approach - but sometimes this is just no fun! Even if we do fail it'll be sad but hardly a tragedy in the true sense of the word. This doesn't mean that I'm a better or worse supporter than the guys who are tearing their hair out about team selection, individual players and cannot see any way but down. It's a broad church we are in.

You realise by Mentioning, FJ, god delusions and being in a broad church, you have only given him more ammo, dont you?!!

No computer is safe but Mac operating systems are more robust explained once by someone to be
Windows operating system is like a complex sponge with patches all over the place ... It's a mess
Macs OS is more like a brick and va virus has difficult to get in
I work on both systems and have done since they both began
Apple products albeit currently on a bit of a rebound because of their success are in effect far better and generally more robust internally and externally

Why anyone would want to run windows on a mac ? It's easy to do as I run three versions of windows of one of mime but only for testing websites and desktop apps .
I have used very quick PCs for 3d work but they are custom machines

Both formats are just machines but IMO the there is no contest between a base PC and a base Mac

On average a mac outlives 5 PC's and performs to the death ... If you want a computer headache then carry on its just a choice . My sons were all given iMac s for Xmas 5 years ago and no problems at all . Swords I am saying its just a easier life and as I have said in the past those beans are out of date in your larder

Hi Frank as you own professional stalker, i was thinking that you were sooooooooooooooooo clever on this one
with your "get a Mac" double entendre
Point 1: Mac computers more resistant to virus attack
Point2: You won't get nasty STDs by buying a mac and flashing rather than doing the dirty deed

But maybe you are becoming such a hero to me that I see great inspiration and deep thought in every single utterance you make.
I follow all your words, I may start a fan club

(thinks about starting a FJ Fan Club thread)

I've had my laptop about 5 years. Not broken, slowing down a bit here and there.
At least 5 of my friends have had macs. Some even three times. They break so easily, and one problem with it means you need a new one ;) <laugh>

It's so easy when contributing to a football forum to drift into consumer advice.....
